Okay, I started Atkins on the 6th of this month. I followed the induction phase to the "T". For a week and a half, I didn't exercise because I wanted to get the eating portion down properly. I've found the best way to handle this this last time around was to make improvements week by week.
After the first week, I cut out Aspartame. I was using Crystal Light every day until I read here that it could hinder your progress. So, I finished up what I had and cut it out. I've been addicted to water and forcing myself to like it. Now, I actually like it! Today was the first day I had a diet pop, but I still drank the appropriate amount of water, since I Dr. Atkins also said that we shouldn't substitute non-water beverages for water.
I started exercising a week ago, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I think, allowing my body to adjust to the new eating habit has enabled me not to be so fatigued during working out. When I tried changing the before, I ended up getting very tired easily.
Daily, I take a B Vitamin complex, fish oil, I eat whatever is allowed on the induction up to the maximum allowances and oh my GOD I feel absolutely fantastic. My energy levels are off the charts, I get more accomplished in shorter periods of time.
Heck, before I was so lazy I didn't even want to type on message boards. Now, I'm addicted to reading and I've been posting all over the place frequently.
Well, the past couple of days I've been looking for a scale, just to kind of gauge how I've been doing. I've noticed (since I'm the only one that sees myself naked), that my butt was going down and my back fat has been shrinking. I've also noticed a marked reduction in my thighs and the fat around my calves. In addition to that, I can finally see my knuckles, collar bones, wrist bones, and my face is smaller.
I finally found a scale at my mom's job (Baptist Health) and I weigh in today from 281 pounds when I started to .... *drumroll*
266 LBS!
I'm so excited!! I've been calling everyone that I know and the support I've gotten from friends and family has been outstanding. Everyone is eager to see what my outcome is once I completed all the phases. I even have people wanting me to personally assist them when I've started rung 4. So, hey maybe I can be an in-house Atkins Specialist. I claim original copyright to that idea and concept. LOL ... no seriously I do
Happy happy! Joy joy!
My friend is starting this weekend with hers and I'm going to be cooking for her. I don't mind, that's my favorite part about this plan. I'll weigh myself in again at 20 more days. After all, I don't want to be a scale junkie.
THANK YOU ATKINS BULLETIN BOARD DOT COM, everyone that participates in distributing proper information to assist in understanding how Atkins works precisely. I read the book, but this has just been all the reinforcement.
I look forward to posting again very soon. I'll stick around for a long time.
Oh, by the way - I'm doing an extended induction. I'll probably keep this up another 15 days before switching to OWL.
