  • I made a huge mistake...

I had to go grocery shopping so I waited for my daughter to come home from school. I however didn't have any meats etc. left and was starving...I had ate a few veggies in the day. I came home and had some steak but because I left it in the day to be so hungry breaking the every six hour rule it is 10:20 here at night and I'm starving.

I also want to remind people to CHECK LABELS. I bought some breakfast sausage, pure pork it said from the meat department, didn't realize until i got home there was nutritional information on the back. three carbs per sausage...EW!!! one gram of sugar. If I had checked better IN the store I would not have bought these.

I'm finding it a big hard to keep up with the groceries as far as the meats go as I'm a single mom on a tighter budget and it can start to get expensive. I'm doing it though...I just have to make up a schedule and plan on stocking up so this doesn't happen again!

    highest weight 360lbs
    started atkins 315lbs
    current weight 295lbs
    first mini goal 275
    second goal 250

    Induction started Sept 30/09

Going to succeed, one day at a time!!!!!!!

It has happened to all of us at one time or another. Just go on from here a little wiser.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

I usually plan my menus and meals around sale items. Check out the weekly ads for what's on sale and then scope out the meat department for in-store specials. Also, around here there are what is called "Manager's Specials" which are meats/poultry marked down because the expiration date is today or tomorrow. I also check out the "past prime" produce rack for any veggies that I can use. I'm usually able to pick up things like 6 red bell peppers or zucchinis or cukes, etc. for $.99. Huge savings.

Yes - those grams of carbs on sugar are sneaky - Very hard to find clean processed meats.
I am also a bargain shopper. And even though our family are over all eating more expensive proteins (because they are whole foods) by looking at sales and using the freezer I have been able to keep it under control. We have also cut down on our eating out budget - because I prefer to eat at home. So there is almost no fast food buying happening anymore.

I eat a lot of hamburger, chicken leg quarters, Boston butts, county style ribs, and pork picnics. An occasional turkey breast when its on sale. I treat myself with the shrimp though, I'd eat tuna but I'm sick to death of it. Veggies I pretty much buy what I want to eat cause I'm picky. It can cost a little more in the meat department. But I'm not buying pies, cakes, cereal, crackers, sodas, or cookies and baking supplies so that helps! I bought imitation crab once, it tasted sweet so I looked it up. I gave the rest away. Everyone gets gotten every once in awhile.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

          1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
          2nd mini goal: 140!
          3rd mini goal:135!
          4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

We eat lots of tuna salad with boiled eggs in it when the budget is tight--which is often. And that was even before Atkins.

Keep in mind that eating lots of tuna isn't safe.

Once every 3 days is a lot when it comes to tuna.
