but yesterday I was curious of what I had lost from the last time I was at the doctor's. I know I'm down 15 pounds from starting atkins but had been losing before. I have come to find out that I'm down 60 pounds from my actual starting weight of trying to get this weight off. I was totally shocked! I don't feel it yet as I have so much to lose, but I'm feeling wonderful! I do admit to having two slip ups in the month from which I have started atkins but they did not hold me back. I realized what triggered it (waking up from an afternoon nap watching tv) and thinking i needed something. Now I have something atkins friendly prepared. I didn't give in and call it "failure" like all other times. I thought ok you did it, you feel like crap that you did...time to move on and realize WHY you did it. I know I can do this and I've never been so determined. We can all do this!!!

Re: still on extended induction..
I have just started atkins sept 30th and I have over 100 lbs to lose still so I'm going to stick on extended induction for a while still, when the time is right I will be sure to move on though!

A month on Induction is very often enough ... even if you have over 100 pounds to lose still.
So many people "fail" because they stay on Induction too long.
Many repeaters say that "this time" they're going to do it "right" ... and move to OWL after the two weeks of Induction.
Make sure you read chapters 12 and 13 in your DANDR.
Seriously ... staying too long on Induction is a way to sabotage yourself.
You can't get to maintenance without moving through OWL.J.

Re: still on extended induction..
Thank you for your encouragement and thoughts, my book is my daytime and nighttime reading, I have a long way to maintenance and a long time to go through OWL still. I'm not feeling like I need to change yet....this is just my own opnion for myself, in days it might change but for today..I stay on extended. I'm not bored of it, I find a lot of interesting things to eat, I'm not desiring the more to add, and with the weight I have to lose I feel like it is the best place for me to be right now.
I really appreciate your input though and as always will think all responses over in my head!

Re: still on extended induction..
There is nothing wrong with staying on extended induction for some people. Dr. Atkins approved this-but! There is always a but......A lot of people say they are not bored with the restrictions of induction but what they really mean is they can live with it while they are still losing weight. Weight loss is not linear and there will come the time that you will hit a stall-it happens to almost everyone and life is a lot easier at those times if you are already doing OWL. You have more food choices on OWL and therefore you will maybe be more patient to wait through the stall. Or if you are impatient you can tweek your diet or even go back to induction to try to break the stall. By staying on induction you set yourself up for frustration in the future. A lot of people are afraid that their weight loss will stop if they move on to OWL but most people can have more than 20 grams of carbohydrates a day and still lose weight. Be brave, put your foot in the water and charge on to OWL. Good luck.

Re: still on extended induction..
I'm not changing to OWL quite yet as I stated a few times, I'm not quite sure why some don't understand that I have a lot to lose and this is my choice. I know we can learn from other's trials and tribulations..and I will move on but right now isn't MY time. I plan on staying on extended four a couple more weeks atleast. I appreciate all the congrats and taking the time to reply and give me different perspectives though.
As much as we are going through this together it is also a very personal journey and we are the ones in tune with out bodies. I'm feeling very in tune with mine for the first time EVER. I read the book daily and I'm following it and couldn't be happier. I even made it through halloween without even a taste, nothing, pizza comes into the house..I don't even touch it.

Re: still on extended induction..
You're right it is your choice and you're making it. Good for you. You know that owl is there and that one day, when you decide, you will look at that option.
Glad to hear that you did well through halloween and through pizza - now that can be tough. Thanks for updating us and keep it coming. We love to hear when people do good!! It helps us all.

>>when do you sleep???>>
The longer you drink the amount of water you should be drinking, the more your bladder will get used to it.
Of course, drinking the bulk of the water during the day might make sleeping through the night easier.J.
