I can't believe that I'm kicking this addiction of many many many years! Yes it took some tylenol the first few days but it feels so great not to be running to the store or worrying that I'm out of diet pop, and panicing. That is literally what it was like for me, it was just a staple I thought I couldn't do without. I'm drinking plenty of water now, and feel great. If I can cut the habit out anyone can!

Great job
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I haven't had soda (real or diet) since 1977.
There is life without it.
My veins actually pump Diet Rite Tangerine, so without it I'd surely die.Grant

I used to think a life without chocolate wasn't worth living ... I was wrong.
You wouldn't "die" without your Diet Rite Tangerine ...J.

Re: a week free from diet pepsi
I did it not only because of atkins but to think of how I just need to be healthier in general. Researching aspartame and too much artificial sweetener made me realize that I had to do something about it. It just really isn't good for you and we are all here for better health right? really if I can do it...anyone can trade it for water!
Thanks everyone for your support!

Re: a week free from diet pepsi
I called my doctor and he confirmed that due to my unique circulatory system's adaptation from blood to soda I would indeed die if I stopped drinking my Diet Rite.Originally posted by atkinsgal08 View Post> My veins actually pump Diet Rite Tangerine, so without it I'd surely die. >>

BUT...
Just4me has inspired me. I have a half of can of Diet Rite Tangerine sitting in front of me at this very moment. I'm going to go against my Doctor's advice and go pour it out. I'll switch to all water all the time, but just4me has to promise to PM me if she "cheats" and goes for a soda.
What do you say just4me?Grant

Re: a week free from diet pepsi
Done and done. I'm excited and nervous. I've gone through stages where I'd drink *mostly* water, but never give up the soda completely. It's a good idea not only for health, though that's my primary reason, but also it's fiscally smart. I don't want to add up how much I spend on soda per week. Actually maybe I should add it up and then set aside that amount each week. Soon it would be enough that I could buy that new bike computer with GPS that I've been eyeing. Hmmmm!Grant

Re: a week free from diet pepsi
I posted this elsewhere but it seems to fit here as well:
I was a hardcore caffeine addict. I would drink multiple Dr Peppers and bug cups of coffee every day. It got so bad that I was actually getting pains in my stomach and my Dr told me they wouldn't go away unless I quit caffeine.
All of the articles I read online said it would take 3 or 4 days of dealing with symptoms (like headaches and problems sleeping) and then everything would be cool. It took me close to a month of dealing with those symptoms.....but now I feel so very much better not putting even the slightest bit of caffeine in my body. I have been this way for a year now and I actually sleep soundly at night.....something that never happened before. I never had any idea how serious a drug caffeine really is but we are all better off without it.
