  • HELP!! Questions on starting over

ok so in my opinion I have been on a very low-carb diet, but not necessarily atkins induction perse.....I would say I am eating about 30 carbs a day.
    sample:
    breakfast: 3 eggs with cheese
snack: low carb protein bar- 3 carbs
    lunch- turkey meat
    snack- low sugar peanut butter
dinner- salad with chicken or ground beef, cheese, and ranch dressing
    dessert- 3 sugar free candies
So I know that I am not in induction, right? but I am fairly low in carbs? I have been doing this for two weeks but the scale says I weigh the exact same however people say that I look like I am doing something different, perhaps losing weight is how they say it.
I would like to start induction but will it be THAT much different from what I have been doing? What is the best way to begin and if I do it correctly for two weeks, am I guarenteed to lose weight?
    Thanks!!

    >> know that I am not in induction, right? b>>

    Right!

You don't have any vegetables, really. And you're eating things that aren't acceptable on Induction.

    >>I would say I am eating about 30 carbs a day.>>

I'm not really sure about that ... but you would have to count your carbs to know for sure.

    >> I would like to start induction but will it be THAT much different from what I have been doing? >>

Yes ... no peanut butter, fewer sugar free candies ... more vegetables.

Is the low carb protein bar necessary? Is it an Atkins bar? What are the list of ingredients?

    >>What is the best way to begin >>

Reading a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) ... at least Chapter 11.

    >>if I do it correctly for two weeks, am I guarenteed to lose weight?>>

    Alas, there are no guarantees.

If you do not have a copy of DANDR 2002 you can read up on the rules in our FAQ section.

There are several threads covering the rules of induction and what foods are allowed amongst other important bits of info. Scroll down the page a bit to find the ones called something like
      Atkins at a glance
What are the rules of induction
What foods can be eaten on induction
      for a start

There is also a wallet-sized list of the allowed foods at the top of this forum, which you can print out to keep with you for easy reference when out and about.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I think if you ate a bit healthier it would be better for you (I know I am not your mom but I am telling you what I think anyways )
Atkins is a bout eating healthy. Unprocessed meats (not things with stuff in it like the turkey you are eating?) Eating veggie carbs - not processed junk like bars and sugar free candy.
It is about broccoli and spinnach and good stuff like that.

Sugar free candy and those bars are the pits
They usually make claims on the label that is not true for most people. We actually will process the stuff they say we will not process like sugar alcohols. So you may not be low carb at at all. Lettuce do not do that to you

So following the rules will clean you up from some chemicals and put you on a new path. Drink only clean water

thanks for all of the replies....so what do you think that I should do? Should I start an actual induction on atkins or just eat healthy for a diet? I am 5'1 and weigh 135...I need to lose about 10 pounds.

If you are asking me ... Atkins induction is a healthy diet - if followed correctly

Did you check the stickies for how to eat? What do you think? Can you live without sweetened junk for a bit?

Im not sure ...i love sweets so much...but i am sure I could do anything for a period of time....it is just hard because of my situation. I do not have that much freedom right now to make y own food, nevertheless purchase the things that i would like to eat to do atkins corrrectly. I dont have a kitchen in my apartment so it makes it hard!

No kitchen - no cooking opportunities? Wow that is rough! How do you do thinkgs now? Eat out? Dry foods? Do you have a fridge?

I used to be a big sugar junkie - it is why I became obese. It is better now. And I did think like you - I am sure I can do this for 14 days - it has been two years now

                      no microwave right now...hahah
                      Ideas would be nice!
I am wondering if perhaps I should just try to eat fruit and veggies and low fat chicken and turkey so i can be able to do a diet with out repeated failures.

                        Fruit isn't allowed on Induction.

                        >>I do not have that much freedom right now to make y own food,>>

Any "diet" is hard when you can't control your food.

When will you have freedom to make your own food?
