I love eggnog, fudge, candy in my stocking etc....I will be tough,I hope! Its all about changing the way I celebrate holidays, instead of making it about food,I'm gonna try to make it about eating right, spending time with family and waking up to the gym....period.

Re: Man,holidays are tough!!!!!!!!!!
Good for you! Believe me when I say it gets easier. I'm not even concerned about Christmas this year...I'm just so happy with my losses that I wouldn't even consider eating anything that would reverse/stall my progress. I'm just not interested. I couldn't say that the first couple months. Getting through holidays (we had Thanksgiving about a month ago here in the Great White North) and birthdays without cheating showed me that it can be done, I can do it, and it really isn't that bad! Best Wishes for getting through the holidays unscathed

Re: Man,holidays are tough!!!!!!!!!!
Like Julie said, it gets easier as you go along....I was "lucky" last year -- I had just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so sugary sweet food was a no-no for me to begin with - I got through the holidays without the usual sugar fest I had been use to....in January of this year I started Atkins and, although slow, I've learned what does and does not work for me. You'll do the same! Good luck.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: Man,holidays are tough!!!!!!!!!!
It is a challenge for me but I am pretty determined. Like Julie said, I don't want to undo my progress and I try to keep that in mind. Losing weight and feeling healthier is better than anything I could eat (which is only temporary afterall).
These are my first holidays on Atkins. I know the board is going to be very helpful!

Re: Man,holidays are tough!!!!!!!!!!
Holidays can be hard but they are incredible fattening. In the old days people did celebrate with foods but they often ate scantily the rest of the time. In modern world we eat loads all teh time and then we celebrate with foods and eat even more. Yes we get fat. Fatter every year according to all the statistics coming out.
But being on Atkins does not mean you have to deprive yourself. Find a couple of good legal things that you like and indulge yourself.
Speaking of indulging.....eggnog... it is the perfect Atkins food - a mixture of eggs and cream. There are many good low carb recipes out there. Get some good spices and off you go.
