  • Day 17 and feeling blahh

Hi everyone I decided to keep myself on the Intro phase just because I am trying to get a good jump start with my weight loss. I find myself not eating that much through out the day. and its hard for me to eat three cups of salads a day and I think it's because I jut cant seem to eat it with oil and vinagar I me it was ok in the begining but now I can't anymore and dry salad is def not a go for me and because I don't eat tht much veggies I still find that I am constipated and that bothers me a whole lot. I started at 211 and I weighed myself on Tuesday and I am down 15lbs. I am trying to stay motivated but it's getting kind of hard.

Staying on Induction does not guarantee the same rate of weight loss as you've seen in the first two weeks.

In fact, some people lose faster when they add more vegetables to their diet.

I find myself not eating that much through out the day.
How many calories are you consuming? Not eating enough can make you feel "blahh".

its hard for me to eat three cups of salads a day
What vegetables are you eating? You might be undereating your (vegetable) net carbs.

it's because I jut cant seem to eat it with oil and vinagar
Who said you have to have them with oil and vinegar?

dry salad is def not a go for me
    You can use other dressings.

    Or eat cooked vegetables.

I don't eat tht much veggies I still find that I am constipated
More veggies will help... and so will a fiber supplement.

Also, it's pointless "to get a good jump start with your weight loss" (if you will even get that!) as long as you don't learn how to eat for life.

And how much water are you drinking?

I have been really bad with not writting everything down but I know it's no more then 1100 cal. As far as the dressing there really isn't anything out here in the stores that know of that don't have sugar in the ingredients so I just assumed oil an vinager was it and as far as the supplement I didn't even think about going to the store to buy that thanks. As I am reading more I see that there are some benefts with moving into the OWL stage, you can actually have nuts and that is a good thing so I think I may go ahead ad try it out this week an see how it goes. Is EXTRA gum ok since it's sugar free sometimes I just fel like having one while I workout but just never knew if it was ok to have.

I drink about 64 oz of water sometimes more because I workout 6 days a week

As you know, you should really do this... especially when you need to troubleshoot. You are at least counting your net carbs, I hope... right?

I know it's no more then 1100 cal.
            Ouch! That's way too low!

Of course you feel blah. You're starving yourself!

Find your caloric needs and make sure you eat at least at your BMR.

there really isn't anything out here in the stores that know of that don't have sugar in the ingredients
I don't find LC dressings here either... but there are many recipes online.

as far as the supplement I didn't even think about going to the store to buy that
I'd get some flax meal, not pills. It's yummier!

you can actually have nuts and that is a good thing
Remember that nuts only come in OWL Rung 3... and some people have portion control issues with them. So be careful when you add any nuts back.

Is EXTRA gum ok since it's sugar free
It has sugar alcohols or some kind of sweetener in it... so it counts towards your sweeteners.

            I wouldn't have it.

Many people feel better and lose better when they are drinking more than 64 oz. More water will also help with constipation. What about aiming for 100 or so?

Also, if you take a fiber supplement, you will need more water. Otherwise it will have the opposite effect.

Make sure you read Chapter 14 before moving to OWL.

Ok I started really writing everything down that I have been eating and since I have had such a hard time eating salad and veggies I noticed that I am eating maybe like 10 carbs a day and I am already in day 18. I went and bought Fiber Choice supplements and flax seed which I use on my EAS 1 net carb shakes that have no hidden sugars in the ingredients makes the shake really taste good. Will I still see results if I am not cunsuming the whole 20 carbs and more since now I am moving into the OWL phase? please I need help!!!!

                      Not enough.

                      Hard to say.

At your current weight you should be eating around 2000 calories ... and if you're only eating 10 carbs (net?), you're not likely to be getting enough food.

Undereating, both in calories and carbs is counterproductive with Atkins.

                      Do you not like vegetables?

Re: Day 17 and feeling blahh

I do but honestly I don't know how to cook very much and so it's kind of discouraging when I attempt something with veggies and it just not taste right and with the salad I just can't find any good dressings that I am allowed to eat

yeah I tried like two things that just did not come out right but your right it is time to learn! as far as dressings I like Ranch and Caesar but all that stuff has sugar.

Here's my "rule of thumb" ... if an item has sugar ... and the sugar is NOT in the first 4 ingredients AND the net carb count is 2 net carbs or less per serving, then it's "acceptable". It can't have any trans fats or HCFS or regular corn syrup though.

Hidden Valley Ranch with Bacon is actually only 1 net carb per serving.

                              I can't help you with Caesar since I don't like it ...

You might find some more expensive salad dressings (like Marie's) without sugar.

And I don't apply this "rule of thumb" to everything!
