Re: lost 20lbs first 2 weeks, moving into extended, until I hit 260
20# Hey, Good job...keep up the good work! I agree...go to extended induction, but as far as how long before moving to OWL, I think you will just have to "play it by ear".
Re: lost 20lbs first 2 weeks, moving into extended, until I hit 260
In chapter 13 in Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002, Atkins discusses this issue. It is a good chapter to read and to think about as you decided what is the best way for you. I also think if induction is feeling right you could stay there a bit but certainly have in mind to move up the carbohydrate ladder at some time. Some people will actually lose a bit more with more carbs. So there may be a time sooner than you think that you would want to try that.
Congratulations with your 20 lbs. That is nice. I hope you have really good plans as to how to deal with Cmas. I know we all need them.
Welcome to extended.

I agree with the others. Do extended induction until either you become bored with the dietary restrictions, or you come to a stall. At that point, move on to OWL and the weight should continue coming off.
Re: lost 20lbs first 2 weeks, moving into extended, until I hit 260
Remember that Dr Atkins expected us to have 'done' OWL and be ready to move to the third phase of Atkins (pre-maintenance) when we have between 5 & 10 pounds left to lose.
Following OWL in order to discover your CCLL as well as if any foods affect you adversely can take a long time as you add more carbs and different foods - often spending several weeks on each OWL level/rung, so do make sure you start up the carb ladder with plenty of pounds left to lose.
People who wait till they are close to goal have a near impossible task as their losses are already slowing and it is hard to tell if any slowdown is due to more carbs or a particular food from what I have seen on the board. So better to move early than late in my opinion.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies? Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
