  • About 3 weeks on Induction and just 1 pound down

    Hi all,

Well, I feel like giving this up. For three weeks I have been on induction. I started at about 186.5, I was down to 182.4 withing the first 5 days, then it just krept back up. Honestly, I don't get it. About two weeks in, I cut the aspartame, started drinking more water and the weight started to go down again AFTER I was back at 185. Last week, the day before Christmas, I was at 182.8, now today 185.2. Ijust don't get this. Ihave deprived myself of so much just to be having these less than mediocre reults. I am goint to write down what I eat....any suggestions would be great.

    Breakfast
3 scrambled eggs in butter, a cup spinach, 3 Carbs worth of tomatoes, onions, also about 3 carbs
    WATER

    Lunch
    2 pieces string cheese
*I nibble from time to time on things like chicken and cheese, I don't feel hungry before i eat
salad with blue cheese and blue cheese dressing (says 0 carbs)
Cup of decaf coffee with 1 pkt splenda, about 1T heavy cream and a spray of extra creamy whipping cream (the redi-whip in a can)**I have been having this for the past 4 days now
    WATER

    Dinner
    Tbone steak
    c.broccoli
    WATER
    WATER
    WATER

I don't know what could be causing the stall----the reddi whip, or the eating when I am not hungry. Please help with suggestions. Thank you..And I do exercise 3 to 4 times a week.

I don't think you're eating enough calories. Are you using Fitday? How many calories/day are you averaging?

You basically skip lunch there, and I'd definitely cut out that Reddi Whip - it's the bad stuff (sugar out the wazoo). If you want whipped cream, you can whip it yourself.

Are you limiting your cheese to not more than 4 oz per day?

salad with blue cheese and blue cheese dressing (says 0 carbs)
It's not zero carbs, but only less than 0.5 grams per serving.

spray of extra creamy whipping cream (the redi-whip in a can)
      It has sugar in it!

I don't know what could be causing the stall
You're not stalled though. A stall is 4 consecutive weeks with no weight loss or loss of inches?

the eating when I am not hungry.
How many calories are you eating daily, on average?

How many net carbs? And how many net carbs come from vegetables?

How much water are you drinking?

      I do exercise 3 to 4 times a week.
      Did you lose inches?

        Thank you for the reply,
I actually do eat a lot....when I say I nibble throughout the day, I really do....I ate a huge steak yesterday. I know I am eating more than I need because when I finish my stomach feels overy satisfied and i don't wait for hunger or emptimess before I snack on some chhese or some meat. I do eat 4 oz or less cheese a day, no more and avg 86 ounces of water daily. Dr. Atkins did mention in the book to adjust your food intake to your appetite becaue it will shrink and that when not hungry we should eat a small low carb snack to accompany nutritional supplements....so isn't that saying we are to listen to our hunger cues? This is what I am used to doing but Atkins makes me feel like I can eat anything, anytime

Well you had a cup of spinach and a cup of brocoli... You can have 1 cup of those a day (pre-cooking) and 2 cups of salad veggies.
The canned redi-whip is not induction friendly.
          Sorry to say..

Also, how much onion? They can actually stall some people.. Along with cream... and coffee...

Also, don't go more than 6 waking hours without eating. even if it's a small snack. You want to get your metabolism going... not eating will shut it down.

Use Fitday, it helps a LOT!!

Overall, to me it doesn't look like you're eating enough, and especially not enough veggies...

Don't give up... 3 weeks isn't long at all...

Do you know how many calories you're consuming?

I do eat 4 oz or less cheese a day
4 oz of cheese might be too much for you, even if it's "allowed".

before I snack on some chhese
You can snack on veggies instead.

              Absolutely listen to Georgiana!!
I am one of those who would turn to cheese for a snack.. would end up eating way over 4 oz.
Once I started measuring my food I found that I was actually eating way more than I realized...

Why have you deprived yourself? This is supposed to be enjoyable. If you do not enjoy the food alternatives on this diet you may want to try another. Remember that how you lose your weight is how you have to keep it off.

My advice (in addition to the wonderful advice you already received) would be to stop nibbling. Eat proper meals - make sure to eat all your vegetables and measure properly and record everything so you have a real idea of what you are eating.

Hope it works out for you

Enjoy yourself. This plan "allows" delcious, calorie-dense foods for a reason. Take full advantage of this freedom and eat when you're hungry. Stop before you're uncomfortable. And, more than anything, water propels the weight loss faster than anything I do. Drink plenty of it.
