  • Pistachios

Okay, could this have been my downfall the other night? I ate about 1 cup of them on Thursday (total emotional eating) and I feel like somehow I'm not in ketosis or something.

Could this have totally kicked me out???? I can't imagine.... :no

Well it probably pushed you over your carb limit - as one cup of roasted, salted pistachios has 10 net carbs according to www.fitday.com

And if they were the salted nuts you may find some water retention from too much salt.

But it is done now so just keep on eating correctly and perhaps drink extra water to help flush all that salt out!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Yep, nuts are dangerous! They are calorically dense and very addictive! Best to avoid them until pre-maintenance or maintenance in my opinion ... And even then, in limited quantities!

Like Elizellen said, drink your water and carry on!

Folks, the nut limit is 1 ounce, not 1 cup or 1 gigantic handful or 1 pound. It's 1 ounce.

The failure to control nut portion control is one of the reasons why Dr. Atkins put nuts in the OWL phase and not in Induction. So if you're doing Extended Induction and are opting to add nuts, as that very vague sentence in the Rules of Induction implies, then follow the OWL rules.

Pistachios, cashews, peanuts and chestnuts are the worst nuts, carbwise, to add because they are the highest in carbs.
