  • Technical questions -coffee mustard flour, dressing

    Hi all...
I use this mustard aioli from Trader Joe's with all legal ingredients but it says mustard flour in there..Is that just ground mustard seeds and if so, they allowed?

I read here to definitely count coffee carbs but what ARE you recommending we count? I've read 2 for an 8-oz cup but then fitday registers WAAAAYYY less, like .4 for decaf and .2 for regualar. Does reg have less? And if we're caffeine intolerant, should we then go for reg over decaf? What is the count I should be using, since coffee is ok for me - no stalls and no cravings and no hunger-inducing symptoms and I keep it to one cup , no sweetener, 1 teaspoon only of whipping cream..thanks

Finally, I find salad dressings with No sugar and all legal ingredients, zero carbs listed but I know book says count all bottled as one carb. What is xanthum gum? It's almost always listed last...dressing never causes me issues, either, and I measure amount but just wondering if that can be a no carb item, or one?

Finally, count carbs in mayo? there are very few I know. And in induction cheese (1oz) counts for one EVEN THOUGH it's not one...like cheddar and brie and monterey jack are quite a bit LESS than one, but count one anyway, for calorie/portion control reasons?

    >>I've read 2 for an 8-oz cup>>

    Where did you read that?

Even the Atkins carb counter book only says 1.

    >>count carbs in mayo?>>

Yes. You count the carbs in everything you eat.

    >>What is xanthum gum?>>

    >>mustard flour >>

I would fret over this. How far down on the list of ingredients is it?

    >>, I find salad dressings with No sugar and all legal ingredients, zero carbs listed >>

If the ingredients have carbs, then the resulting product can't have 0 carbs.

    >>nduction cheese (1oz) counts for one EVEN THOUGH it's not one>>

Actually, you can use the actual carb count ... it's rounded in the book in case you're not counting decimals of carbs. The limit is still 3-4 ounces.

    >>1 teaspoon only of whipping cream>>

Is that cream from a carton?

        Hi

My rule of thumb is stick to the induction rules for the first 2 weeks, its like a cleansing time. After that, its the time to experiment and test the induction friendly foods, add new veggies, try less of this and more of that, making sure that you listen to what your body is telling you. Does that make sense? When you get to OWL, thats also when we slowly add food groups to our menus, again, listening to what is going on and how we are feeling, etc. No one is going to tell you drink the coffee, because you must give yourself that permission.
