I think it's time I jumped in and started getting active support from this wonderful board. I've been lurking for about six months or so and have gotten tremendous benefit from all of you fellow Atkineers. I started Atkins in July 2004, and have been on induction since then. However, I have had many cheats and it's been a slowwwww process to get where I am. Since the end of January, I have been serious about induction and have lost 12 pounds. I can't say I'm at a stall now since my inches are shrinking slowly, but I am a scale slave and the pounds are going nowhere.
With the help of all of you, I've learned that cheese is my enemy as well as frankenfoods and too much Splenda. My biggest problem is portion control I think and watching those hidden carbs. We eat out a lot at work for lunch and while I may order something legal, I don't watch the ingredients close enough to avoid carb-creep.
I'm exercising more now than I every have in my life (3 times a week at Curves, walking to and from Curves (2miles), an hour of intense Yoga a week, and I try to walk or bike on the alternate days.
Most days I know I don't drink enough water (64 oz or so), but I'm trying to change that.
My friends and family have noticed a huge change in my appearance and so have I in how my clothes fit, but I'm still feeling like I'm going no where at the moment, mostly because of the scale.
So I thought in addition to trying to up my exercise and water, I would jump in here and start being an active participant instead of a lurker. Maybe that will help my attitude. I'm especially interested in hearing from those of you over 50 and how your journey on this WOE has been for you.
Thanks for listening and hope to make you all my best friends.
