  • Long time lurker; first time poster...

I think it's time I jumped in and started getting active support from this wonderful board. I've been lurking for about six months or so and have gotten tremendous benefit from all of you fellow Atkineers. I started Atkins in July 2004, and have been on induction since then. However, I have had many cheats and it's been a slowwwww process to get where I am. Since the end of January, I have been serious about induction and have lost 12 pounds. I can't say I'm at a stall now since my inches are shrinking slowly, but I am a scale slave and the pounds are going nowhere.

With the help of all of you, I've learned that cheese is my enemy as well as frankenfoods and too much Splenda. My biggest problem is portion control I think and watching those hidden carbs. We eat out a lot at work for lunch and while I may order something legal, I don't watch the ingredients close enough to avoid carb-creep.

I'm exercising more now than I every have in my life (3 times a week at Curves, walking to and from Curves (2miles), an hour of intense Yoga a week, and I try to walk or bike on the alternate days.

Most days I know I don't drink enough water (64 oz or so), but I'm trying to change that.

My friends and family have noticed a huge change in my appearance and so have I in how my clothes fit, but I'm still feeling like I'm going no where at the moment, mostly because of the scale.

So I thought in addition to trying to up my exercise and water, I would jump in here and start being an active participant instead of a lurker. Maybe that will help my attitude. I'm especially interested in hearing from those of you over 50 and how your journey on this WOE has been for you.

Thanks for listening and hope to make you all my best friends.

Hello :wave I am glad you decided to de-lurk and say hi :yes :yes
It sounds as if you are doing a grand job on induction.

How much more weight do you hope to lose?

If you can add some info to your signature showing people your start/current/goal weights as well as your height and gender it will help you to get relevant responses more easily.

BTW you do this by clicking on the 'Profile' link at the top and adding this to the signature block.

Have you read the sticky titled 'weight loss is not linear' in this forum? It may help you feel better about your progress :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thanks for the welcome. I thought I had added my info but now I see that I had to check the add signature box. Next task will be to add the count down avatar. I'll figure it out.

I have about 15 pounds to lose yet and then I'll see where I am at that point. I've read most of the topics around the site but I don't think I've read the linear one. I will do so this afternoon, thanks for the suggestion.

I think I just need encouragement since I find myself questioning the progress I'm making lately.

I particularly enjoy reading your posts, Elizellen, since we are close in age. I really believe this gets a lot harder the older you get (not that I consider myself old at all). :hug

I think you may be right there - we old codgers have to work our Atkins a bit harder than some of the young'uns ! LOL

            WELCOME TO ha :wave

Glad you decided to quit lurking!!

As for the old timers ... well I am steadily getting there myself, but I have to say if you are exercising and keeping your carbs under control you should have NO PROBLEM shedding the pounds!

YOU CAN DO IT! Great job so far!
