  • How do you do your extended induction?

I know a few people who do extended induction simply by continuing on the restricted induction list and 20 carbs. Some who do it OWL rung 1 (so they can add more vegetables) but 20 carbs. The second way, IMO, is OWL 1 and not induction since you never had to eat the total allowable carbs to begin with even on induction.

So I guess my question is, how do most of you do it.

I did it for about 3 months, and I simply kept eating Induction foods in the same amounts. Once I began feeling like continuing on with the experiment, I moved on. I stayed in OWL Rung 1 for a good while too, though, because I was afraid of adding completely new foods in Rung 2, etc.

I think most folks just stick with induction rules.

So far, I've tried to just stay on a really strict Induction plan. I have not even had a diet soda, or cream, or anything else that might create havoc within my body. But I've only been back on the Atkins for about three weeks. We'll see how it goes...so far s good though.

many add back the one ounce of nuts Dr Atkins recoomends in DANDR as the frist addition after the 14 day induction. Kent our admin did his that way.
I was following DANDR 92 on my extended induction and added 1 ounce of nuts and more salad veggies but because ADBB uses the 2002 DANDR my extended induction became modified OWL here.

Last time I did atkins kept my carbs at ~20 for about 6 months. But I allowed the tortillas, Diet Rite and the bars.

I may have messed up this time because I forgot I wasn't allowed those on induction so for the first few days I used them.

I was like that before. I went on Atkins for a year at age 31 and lost 60 pounds. I was perfectly content with 20 carbs. I essentially stayed at 20 carbs a day and allowed the other rungs if desired, but I had no desire for most rungs except occasionally. I mainly had a lc tortilla occasionally and lc beer at times. Always accounted for. It was an entire year without bread, fruit, or starchy veggies, and I loved it.

The only reason I stopped was my gallbladder stopped functioning and I ultimately had to have it removed.

I'm trying to figure this out myself. I'm on day 14 and have just added more veggies in but not too many. We'll see how it goes. I would love to have legumes but am scared too

Well... there's still some way to go until you get to the legumes rung.
