  • my daily intake, please take a look. many thanks

hi again, thought i would post my daily diet moondog78 - free online diet and fitness journal
    to see what people think.
it doesnt change i have the same thing daily, the chicken breast i buy cooked from the supermarket and have half the chicken breast, no skin as i dont like it, salad is spread over the day between the prawn(shrimp) salad and the chicken salad i have for my dinner, both with equal amounts of mayo(1-2 tablespoons).

cooked bacon (3/4 slices) along with the mushrooms cooked in sunflour oil.

water 90oz min daily and two cups of coffee.
i also might have 1-2 hot peperami sticks as a snack depending on how im feeling which takes up my cals by 300 and fat up 20g carbs up 1g

    weight lost to date
    starting weight: 16st 5lbs
    current weight 14st exactally.
started diet 7th november 2009 with a two week relapse over xmas.

weight lost to date purely thru diet only, no exercise, but still had amazing results i think in the short space of time.
ive just started to go swimming now and running both twice a week with a friend(first week), ive also just taken surfing up again as i used to be quite good, so weight should start falling quick now im exercising.
    be kind.
    David.
p.s will post some before and after pics soon ( well before and current anyway)

i have the same thing daily
More variety would make your diet more nutritious.

While losing weight is great, another principle behind Atkins is good health.

the chicken breast i buy cooked from the supermarket
Did you read the list of ingredients?

1-2 hot peperami sticks as a snack
Not a very good choice. Check the ingredients.

    depending on how im feeling
By "feeling"... do you mean how hungry you are? Or are you just snacking out of habit or boredom?

    current weight 14st exactally
    What's your goal weight?

Why are you still on Induction?

Have you read Chapters 12 and 13 in DANDR 2002?

ive just started to go swimming now and running both twice a week with a friend(first week), ive also just taken surfing up again
Good job for starting to exercise, because Dr. Atkins told us we're not following his plan if we're not exercising.

weight should start falling quick now im exercising
Not necessarily. You might be gaining muscle and losing fat.

Take body measurements instead of going only by the number on the scale.

i eat the sam thing every day
well not entirely true, some days i have scrambled eggs for breakfast, just eggs nothing added. also vary the types of veg i eat.

      chicken breast
this is a whole chicken roasted at the supermarket that i buy from the roasting counter and just strip the breast out and shread it and put it in the salad. i find that when i cook my own bought chicken breasts it tastes too dry and not as tender as the supermarket.

      peperami snack
i dont have these every day just if iv had a busy day and a little peckish and too boost up calories and fats for the day, i read that they are ok on atkins. heres the nutritional info.

      each stick 25g
      kcal 126g
      protien 6.1g
      carbs 0.6g
      sugars trace
      fat 11g
      saturates 4.5g
      fiber 0.3g

mdae with 36.2g pork per 25g finished product as some of the moisture is lost during curing.
      ingredients. pork 145% salt.glucose.spices.flavour enhancer(monosodium glutamate.white pepper.chilli extract(contains wheat) garlic powder sodium nitrate.

i am aware that there are things on the list that are not recomended ie glucose.
but it hasnt stalled me thus far and i dont have them every day just every other day, as they are tasty and take the blandness out of the diet.

as for goal weight im 5ft 9. ideally id like to get down to 11st 7, which is about right for my height and frame. about 9yrs ago i was 12 1/2 stone and i was slim but no where near defined, which is what i am aiming for.

i used to workout with weights in my late teens early 20s so have great physiuqe under all this extra fat which i have never seen so that is my focus. im only 31 now, got caught up in the daddy thing eating with the kids, sweets, fast food ect and let myself go over the years, but thats not happening anymore, i wont let it.

yes im on extended induction, i dont have a problem with this phase as i like the food and and dont feel the need to crave, i dont have the book i had years ago so cant ref chapter 12/13.

      thanks

Maybe the one at the supermarket has "something" added to make it more moist.

Or maybe you're overcooking the chicken when you cook it.

Marinating the chicken breast will make the meat more moist.

It's not only this that matters.

The only way to reach Maintenance is to go through OWL and Pre-Maintenance. Both these phases take a long time, because you'll need to learn what foods you can tolerate and what foods you should avoid, and how much of each food you should eat. Without this knowledge, it's impossible to follow Maintenance.

Since you only have 35 lbs left to lose and you are clearly not metabolically resistant, I would suggest you lose the next 25-30 lbs in OWL... and then move to Pre-Maintenance to lose the last 5-10 lbs.

        i dont have the book
If you want to be successful in the long term... not only lose weight by following Induction... then I strongly encourage you get a copy of the 2002 edition.

Re: my daily intake, please take a look. many thanks

I second Georgiana's suggestion to read the ingredients list on the cooked chicken. Most places inject or marinate the chicken with some sort of sugar solution to make it moist and delicious.

I often bake chicken breasts in a foil parcel with butter and herbs/spices or rolled in a slice or two of bacon and I don't think I have ever tasted a moister chicken Easy-peasy to cook and timing is not that critical either as sometimes I have lost track of time and cooked it for over an hour with no harm done!

BTW I noticed on your fitday account that you are using fitday's generic entry for 'mayonnaise, regular' which lists about 1/2 a carb per tablespoon. Well if you are using Hellman's fullfat mayo that carb count is way out! Per 100 grams/108mls of that has only 1.5 carbs, making one tablespoon have 0.21 carbs!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

You could phone their customer services department and ask them to find out what is done to the chickens before they cook them and for any nutrition info they can let you have.

I have found most companies are happy to find out what they can if you explain you are following a special diet and cannot eat anything prepared with starches or sugars. Sometimes I just tell them that I need to track my intake of cals/fat/carbs/sodium/protein and therefore need to know if their product is one I can buy in the future.

After all, if you had an intolerance to an ingredient and ask them to confirm there is definitely none of it in one of their products it is not worth them lying about it - you could sue the pants off them if they mislead you

I found this number for groceries enquiries which might a good place to start.
