  • should i move to OWL Rung 1?

    Currently I am on Extended but i have been the same weight for 2 weeks. 183 or some days 182.4 i have been following it great except for about 2.5 weeks ago i had a huge splurge. Should i move up to OWL RUNG 1 to see if that helps at all ? I am very eager to reach my first improved goal weight of 175. which is only 8 lbs away. I have also heard about moving up and it actually helping you. I guess I am just afraid that it would hurt me more than help me! Any suggestions?

    With about 40 pounds left to shed and your losing slowing down I would move to OWL rung 1 and see if adding more of the nutrients in your extra vegetables persuades your body to get losing again

    Also you need to allow yourself some time doing OWL before you are ready to move to the third phase of Atkins when you have between 5 & 10 pounds left to lose.

      thanks hopefully by moving up to owl rung 1 i can lose weight and stop almost stalling i bought more veggies to add to my meals like jicama and avocado and tomatoes and I really want to find turnips but can't find them in the local grocery store so this weekend I am going to go search for some at the farmers market.

        let's look at what moving to OWL rung one really is.

        you add 5 more net grams of those yummy induction veggies that would be anywhere from 20-30 cals depending on how much fiber your chosen veggie has. It will alsoadd lots of healthy micronutriants that you are struggling to get in your foods right now.

        do you think those few cals will cause you to gain body fat? I don't. try it for a week and if you don't like it you can always drop it.

          I do believe i am stalled. i have been 182-183 for the past 2 weeks.. this morning i was actually 183.6 and i started owl rung 1 yesterday.. is this normal to be stalling ? should i just drink a ton of water and stay with the 5 extra net carbs from veggies?

            Changing what you eat does not usually show up in your body for a few days, so I would sugest continuing with your extra 5 net carbs of your induction veggies for a week then seeing if your weight or inches have changed before deciding what to do.

              You aren't stalled. Dr. Atkins defined a stall as 4 consecutive weeks with no loss of inches or pounds. So two weeks at the same weight is not a stall.

                patients there. stalls are 4 weeks like Georgianna said.
                have you made friends with your tapemeasure? if not you should cause scale weight loss hesitation is a common occurance during weight loss. the human body does not like to collaspe inward upon itself so it will attempt to hold shape. eventually the shape holding method will interfer with other body chemistry and fluid releasing chemicals will result in the scale moving to catch up to the tape measure changes. then the process begins again.

                  my fit day isnt actually on the fitday website. I used the computer program so then i can still record if i am on the road without internet or the internet is down. But going back ill tell you all my stats..

                  Feb 1st= 19 net carbs, 69% fat, 5% carb, 25% protein
                  2nd= 19 net, 65% fat, 4% carb, 30% protein
                  3rd= 16 net carbs, 52% fat, 13% carb 35% protein
                  4th= 20 net, 66% fat, 7% carb, 27%protein
                  5th= 20 net, 56% 6% 37%
                  6th=14 net, 70%, 6%, 23%
                  7th= 18 net, 66% 6% 27%
                  8th owl rung 1 = 25 net, 71%, 8%, 22%,
                  9th= 24 net, 72%, 10%, 19%
                  10= 21 net, 63%, 8%, 30%
                  and so far today.. not including dinner
                  11th= 8 net, 66% 3% 30%

                  Dinner tonight i am having a salad with lots of veggies and lindas induction italian cass. and some jicama for dessert =)

                  Majority of my carbs come from the veggies and the 3-4 oz of cheese i eat. I am staying away from splenda because i have noticed cravings with it. Also i used some spices and make sure i count the carbs in those also.

                  I haven't yet gotten to measure myself because my tape measurer is still in the mail ( it was supposed to be deliver last week)

                  I can probably up my water intake because I still wake up thirsty but i am having at least 100 oz daily. So i am going to aim for higher intake.

                  Also it may be TOM soon even tho its not schedule.. just got that horrible feeling =(

                          Have you got a ball or string or long piece of ribbon?
                          You could wrap it around yourself at various points and mark on it then use an ordinary ruler or measure to work out the measurements so as to have an earlier record than waiting till the tape measure arrives.
                          I never measured when I started (my hips and bust were too big for an ordinary sewing tape measure and I didn't think of using something else) so missed out on the fun of seeing the numbers going down

                            thanks ill go find some string or ribbon to fit around me to see what is going on =) and i think my clothes are looser? not by too too much but i do now my top has gotten smaller since ive started.. my biggest problem areas are the lower stomach all the way day thighs, legs, everyhting lol
