  • Question for everyone on extended induction!

Hello! I have been on extended induction for almost two weeks and feel great! I was just wondering if you could tell me about how much you lose a week and when you plan on moving on..I am losing about a pound a week..I don't know if thats normal or slow..I know everyone is differnt but just wanted advice..I think I might move on but just wanted to see where everyone is ! Also is there like a daily check in thread?? Thanks!! Sorry for all the questions!

It is probably normal for you.

I think I might move on but just wanted to see where everyone is !
How would that help? You cannot say whether or not you need to move to OWL based on the rate at which others are losing or on when they plan to move to OWL.

Have you read Chapter 13 in DANDR 2002? It will help you take the right decision.

Also is there like a daily check in thread??
There's one in the Second Time Around forum and one in the Century Club forum:

Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet

Century Club (100+) - Atkins Diet

Usually the daily thread has "roll call" and the date in the title.

Re: Question for everyone on extended induction!

congrats on your great start to your Atkins.
there can't be any normal weight loss as every body starts at a different place and the pounds they need to shed represent a different % of their total needed to shed weight.

it you are thinking of moving to OWL then you should. Your rate of loss might even speed up there as several new to OWL folk have posted in the last week about increased weight loss moving from extended to OWL.

Moving to OWL is very seldom the wrong decision.

I just recently finished the first 2 weeks of extended induction and lost 13lbs (28lbs total in first month, this also included 2 seperate occasions when I cheated). I plan on sticking for the most part with extended but going to do a somewhat modified version of OWL to see how that works.

Re: Question for everyone on extended induction!

              Since starting I've lost:

              7lbs
              1lb
              2.6lbs

Not sure when I'll move to owl I really don't have any interest in increasing my veggies or veggie carbs but I'll move when I have to I guess.

Atkinsgal08, why are you so negative in all your responses? It's very discouraging as us newbies who look to the veterans for help and support. Obviously by the number of questions and guidelines to this way of life, it's not easy for anyone to pick up and know what to expect, hence the purpose of sites such as this.

It seems as if the posts appear to annoy or irritate you by the tone of your responses. If that's the case, please do all of us, whom are trying our hardest to do the right thing and be healthy, a favor and spare us the snide comments. If it's one thing we all need, regardless of what kind of lifestyle we lead, or diet we follow, is positive support and encouragement.

                    They don't.

If they did, I certainly wouldn't be spending time here trying to help people.

                    >>spare us the snide comments.>>

I'm sorry you feel I'm "snide".

Might I suggest using the "ignore" button? Then I won't trouble you.

                    >>positive support and encouragement.>>

And you have the only definition of that?

I must be missing something... I don't see how J's post was negative. I, too, find it sad when people shun veggies. It totally makes no sense to do so, and indicates a basic misunderstanding of how to do Atkins correctly.

AndrewH, from all your post here at this forum where people with weight issues seem to visit for help, you have not (IMO) been helpful once. Why would you want to tell someone that cheating is OK? If you want to cheat and live whatever "diet" you are on, go ahead. If you want to tell me that you were in an accident while at war (my tax money to "good" use) go ahead. But please, let people get advice about what Dr. Atkins' plan was/is for us who need/needed help. Allow the people here here with the expertise to give advice to do their "duty". You do know what that word means, right?
Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.

Hi 2muchtresa, how/where do you "feel" negativity by any reply from someone attempting to help obese/overweight people?

Tone? How is it that you can hear tone from someone typing?

Why don't you try to help the OP with their question/post? Isn't that why we are here?

You've noticed that too, eh? The deal with Andrew is that he is not taking this seriously as a lifestyle change (his own words in other posts)... he is doing a modified Atkins to lose weight (doesn't feel that you need to strictly follow the rules), and plans on going back to other eating habits after he reaches goal. Which is fine for him... to each his own.

HOWEVER, this is a support board for 2002 DANDR. I have asked him, that if he feels inclined to post advice that is not in keeping with the mission of this board, to please include in each of his posts the fact that what he is doing is modified from the approach this board supports, and that he is not taking this seriously as a lifestyle change. It is the responsible thing to do. It can be quite confusing to newbies and those who haven't run across his other posts explaining this.

His personal choice, but not what ADBB is all about, right?

I couldn't say it better, but this person is very disruptive to people that want/need help. Again, TOS? Thank you Mitzimarie.
