  • Still think all that meat and fat can't be good for you?

Deep down, I still worried despite what Dr. Atkins claimed.

I went in last Thursday and asked for a blood work up to see how it was to date - I've been on it plenty long enough that if it was actually doing harm, it would have shown up by now.

Although six months ago both cholestrols were in normal range, my triglycerides were just terrible, 50 points above the highest 'norm' allowed! I have been low on iron most of my life.

I quit using the iron supplements when I started this diet but used all my other supplements and I had blood drawn last Thursday and went in today for the results. The blood work also included an involved count of my vitamin/mineral levels at my request.

Everything, including my iron is well within normal range. Including my triglyceride count - it was smack in the middle of the number range that is considered to be a healthy count.

That little niggling worry is now behind me - my doctor was VERY impressed!

    I am too -

OMGosh that is wonderful to hear!!!! YAY!!!! Congratulations not only on the improvements but that extra little bit of relief of worry. Believe me, it can make a difference. I need to see my doctor too...see how my levels are doing. I haven't gone for a couple of years. Should be interesting to see. My iron levels were always low too and I am curious to see if they've improved! Thanks for sharing your results. Just yesterday I was talking to a coworker/friend about cholesterol and he is convinced that he can't eat the way I do because his cholesterol would go sky high and his gout would return. Hmmm...I didn't know what to say but I am going to study up on it so I have a good answer for him. He wants to lose 60lbs. I am trying to convince him to try Atkins because I think he would do well on it and lots of his little health problems would be resolved or at least improved. He's too young to be having so many problems! I have seen him eat a sweet roll/soda combo for every meal and its just sad...makes me cringe.
