Ok, let me start by saying, yes I know that 7 to 8 cups in the morning can't be all that great. So, this week (I am on week 3 of induction or extended induction now) I have decided to cut back to one/two cups of coffee in the morning. I drink it black, no sweetners. My scale has not moved in since the 14th of Feb. That is 8 days. Yes, I have lost some inches but for the scale not to move in over a week I am thinking that the coffee is stalling me. I do not drink diet sodas, maybe one in a week. I do enjoy unsweet tea at lunch. I also get in all my water. Am I over doing the caffenine with the coffee/tea? Do I need to totally cut out coffee all together? And what about the decaffinated hot teas? I am using those as a subsitute and drink about 3 or 4 bags?

Re: Coffee? Is it really that bad?
Are you counting the carbs in all that tea/coffee?
By drinking that much tea/coffee, you're cutting in to carbs that should be going to FOOD.
And ... you can lose inches without losing on the scale.
And ... maybe it's time to consider OWL?J.

Re: Coffee? Is it really that bad?
I drink coffee every morning but yea.. I think you should probably cut back. What it does is raise the blood sugar level and that can't be good.
You will get a headache when you quit, so have something to take around the house.
On the other hand, it is very normal to lose weight the first or second week of induction and usually a big chunk. Then nothing for awhile while your body adjusts, so it may not be the coffee at all, just normal hesitation period/

Re: Coffee? Is it really that bad?
i read that you have to drink 8 oz's for every cup of coffee as it's a diuretic.
if you are drinking coffee, that is something that you'll want to take into consideration.
i still have my one small cup in the am at work, but make sure that i drink about 4-5 litres of water a day to compensate my caffeine consumption and working out.F 28years 5'7" HW 212/SW206.6/CW185/GW160

Re: Coffee? Is it really that bad?
That coffee is a diuretic, I agree. That coffee dehydrates more than it hydrates... that I'm not so sure about.i read that you have to drink 8 oz's for every cup of coffee as it's a diuretic.

Re: Coffee? Is it really that bad?
the caffeine in the coffee and tea is an insulin stimulator and that is why it is bad ofr inductees.
that said the weight loss hesitation is a perfectly normal thing and is known in atkins circles as PISS. you are seeeing inches gone and the scales will catch up and then stop again. this is how your weigfht loss will go from this point onward.by the book atkinseer
