Best to get them up now ... the longer you undereat, the more likely you run the risk of "famine mode".

I figure continuity is more important than knowing my calories until I get my own computer. Find I rely too much on fitday.
BMR doesn't take into account if you are a marshmellow or a hard body type and can vastly overestimate cals for obese folk. listen to your bdy and feed it if it tells you you are hungry.

          I was undereating.

When you changed the problem the diet beagn to work?
When I added more calories, I began losing again.

I wouldn't say the diet wasn't "working" while I was stalled though. I was experiencing all the other benefits of Atkins (appetite suppression, constant energy, no cravings, etc.)... I was just losing no pounds or inches.

Whta was your weight when you noticed this problem and what were your calories before this discovery?
I was around 157 lbs... eating 1100-1300 calories... maybe up to 1400 on a "good" day.

          After the discovery?
          About 1800.

            Georgiana,

Thanks for the info. I am 265 pounds and I am keeping my kcals to 2400-2800 calories per day. If you were 157 and eating 1800, then maybe I should bump up to 3180?

            157 lbs * 12 = 1884 kcals
            265 lbs * 12 = 3180

I have been losing weight at such rollercoaster rates and I was wondering I need to up my intake to level it out.

            Thoughts?

Let's also look at what exactly you're eating.

How many net carbs per day?

How many net carbs from Induction vegetables?

              How much water?

if you are feeding your body's hunger and that is all it needs then don't up your cals yet.

are you measuring to see if you are shedding inches of body fat as you work your atkins both the eating and mnadatory exercise part? if you ar shedding inches even if the scales are not moving you are shedding body fat. soon your sclaes will move to match your smaller body.

I have never been too hungry on the diet, so I have to count my calories to make sure that I am eating enough. In January I dipped into the low 2,000's and I didn't lose weight. When I upped to 2,800, I started to lose-

Yes, I am measuring and using the scale and both are moving quite well. My WOE is going very well! These questions are to fine tune my diet in hopes of maximizing weight loss. I was really wondering if upping my calorie intake might speed up my weight loss. I guess I can only find out if I try it, but I wanted to see if someone had already tried that to see if it worked for them on their WOE.

since you are losing don't up your cals as your body type may not be the same as Georgiana's nor your activity level. those who exercise and have active lifestyles can lose on high cals then those who don't even if they weigh the same and are the same age sex and height

I completely understand that this WOL is different for every person. I am just collecting useful data. I guess I will just up my kcals a little bit for a few days and see what happens. If I stop losing, I can take it back down.

                          Re: Average Calories

I completely ignore whatever calories I might be consuming. If I did pay closer attention I would probably lose weight faster. But my sole concerntration is on the carb count and my veggie intake to be sure I get the correct carbs I need from healthy foods.

Maybe when I'm 10 or 15 pounds from my goal and I'm on the step ladder of Atkins, then I will need to look at this factor along with everything else but right now? I honestly don't care. If I'm losing every month and I'm happy with the rate loss, that is good enough for me.

Learning a new way of eating for the rest of my life is my job right now - it's what I'm focusing upon. It's vital that I get this as simply how I eat and not how I "diet" - it's what works for me.

I'm sure that you will find what works for you too - I have no idea how much you wish to lose, but if it's a lot, I'm sure in my heart that learning to eat correctly for life is THE most important goal right now. I kind of think it's even more important than losing weight! The weight loss is the payoff of eating correctly - this is how I have it all worked out in my head

If that is not the reason you picked the name Maxima, then you just forgot that I even mentioned it.........(Imagine the Wayne's World fade away)

Finding perfection has always been my hobby and Atkins is no exception.
