  • Diet Rite Soda

Once I finished with the 14 day Induction Phase I added Diet Rite soda. One of the problems with this is that I can't have just 1. Yesterday was the worst day ever, I had 6 soda and no water. Today I decided not to drink any more soda until I have reached my first goal weight. I don't know if the soda kept me from seeing more rapid results because I am not weighing myself until the end of this week. My clothes seem to be getting bigger but who knows what they would fit like if I wasn't pigging out on sodas. Does anybody have any information on Diet Rite sodas made with Splenda?

The limit of sweeteners is 3 servings per day.

There's more than one serving per can.

What kind of information were you looking for?

In that case, you should have none.

Besides, it's better with no sodas at all anyway.

I don't know if you came across any of my latest posts, but my [before Atkins] drink of choice was always Rum & Diet Rite. I loved Diet Rite!!

Since changing my Lifestyle, I dropped all sodas for water. I have a 12pk of Diet Rite, 6pk each of Hansen's Diet Root beer, Black Cherry and Ginger Ale sitting in my kitchen. I had a soda Saturday and ... WOW! IT WAS JUST TOO SWEET!!!

So, my suggestion is, stick with the water for at least a couple more weeks, then when you do have a soda, you'll lose your craving for it ... promise!!

Once you get out of the easy "sweet" habit, you're going to find that foods are naturally sweet, salty, etc. all on their own. And most people Do Not Drink Enough WATER!

I have 6 bottles of Diet Rite Portello sitting in my cupboard & just yesterday I tipped almost a full bottle down the sink. I had a sip as I was doing it & yuk it tasted so sickly sweet. I have changed to mineral water with a slice of lemon. I have one glass at night when I fancy something besides water. That is all I drink...no coffee or tea. I drink well over 100oz. of water a day & just one glass mineral water.
Like the others said try cutting it out and drinking more water get your water ice cold that is how I really enjoy mine.
Good luck with it I know you can do it.

                Re: Diet Rite Soda

I understand how you feel right now, I used to drink about 4-5 diet lemon/lime sodas a day and when I began this diet, I quit because I was "saving" my allowance of splenda for my coffee.

About two weeks into this, I ordered a diet coke with my meal when we went out to lunch and it was so deeply "artifical" in the oversweet taste that I couldn't drink it. I thought maybe they had not cleaned or changed their soda vat because that sometimes happens when it's low. But - the next day I was going to have one while my husband had his Cost-co hot dog and I couldn't drink that either! It was just too, too sweet and the artifical flavor was overpowering.

You might find that if you refrain for several weeks in a row, you might actually lose your taste for this stuff. But keep in mind that if Diet Rite has caffine in it, don't cut out all the caffine suddenly all at once, there are real withdrawal symptoms of doing that which can last as long as a week and you DO NOT need anything like that going on right now - cut down a lot, but not it all, all at once. Iced tea, freshly made every single day is really wonderful.

But I do get plain water in restaurants. Nowhere outside of the deep south makes good iced tea, and they keep it (old even) in metal vats which makes it taste just plain nasty to me *LOL*

Believe it or not, this single "food" is the easiest of all to let go once you get past the two week point! At least it was for me.

I do find, however, that the occasional diet soda (I like the really cheap lemon and limes, they are "lighter" in sweetner) doesn't appear to hurt my progress at all. I don't try to make up for the sweetner in it by cutting out my coffee, I just make sure I only have one with a meal once in awhile, maybe once or twice a week - and so far there hasn't been a problem.

However, once I get off extended Induction and start the steps, it very well might - I'm keeping that in mind.
