  • Clotted Cream

Hi, a quick question for you seasoned Atkiners..... I have been on induction since 19th January and everything is going well, have lost 14lbs, which I am okay about - slow but sure, but have definitely dropped a size and a half. I was out shopping today and noticed that clotted cream has 0.7grams of carbs per 30g (Sainsbury's Taste The Difference) - I know that on induction it recommends, whipping, heavy or single - do you think it is ok to use Clotted Cream? A tbsp per day in a coffee?

    Yes, clotted cream is fine.

    MMMM...

You should consider moving to OWL, too.

      Hi Atkins Gal,

Thanks for the response. I am cruising along okay on induction, mainly eat chicken, salmon and the odd steak with salad - plus cheese, some cream, hellmans mayo. I don't have a great history with diets and as I seem to be consistently losing weight doing this part of the program, I am really nervous about stalling. (I also check my ketones every day to establish if whatever I have eaten has had a negative effect on my fat burning ability).

Have you heard of ECA Stacks? Not that I want to get into diet pills, however thought it may give me a boost, but again quite nervouse about Ephedrine.

      Thank you

      JJ

How many net carbs are you eating from vegetables?

        What's in that salad?

Just because you turn a stick pink or purple it doesn't mean you're doing Atkins correctly. And you can be in ketosis and burn primarily fat for fuel even without peeing acetoacetate (that's the ketone body measured by Ketostix).

        Bad idea.

Don't look for quick fixes. Better focus on following Atkins correctly.

Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002). Abbrev. DANDR. That is the book that we follow here.

Make sure you are getting all your vegetables required on induction.

Rung one is just more veggies, and rung two... mmmm cheese!

I works if you work it but trying to make it better by cutting our healthy veggies is not the way to go. Give your body nutrition.

The sticks don't tell you that though.
