  • Bumping up my rate of weight loss.

Since going on Atkins in Nov I have lost almost 15 pounds.

This is only 3lbs a month...... I'd like to get this up to 6-8 lbs a month (1-2 lbs per week).

It might not be possible and I'm willing to accept that fate but I want to give it a try.

    Here's my plan.

    - Kick up the cardio. I'm going to try running for 30 minutes 5x per week

    - Cut down on calories. Try to eat smaller meals and also have more fiber to help cut the feeling of hunger.

I think that the combination of eating healthy, rigorous exercise, and calorie reduction, is going to seriously put me into overdrive.

I've mostly been eating the portions I feel like eating and often feel like I've eaten too much at night.

    Any thoughts?

Here's a suggestion: move to OWL.

If you feel like you have over eaten (physically not mentally) then cutting portion size would be good. If not stick to eating, your body needs food especially with increased cardio. Eating less than your body needs and kicking up cardio is a recipe for disaster, potentially a dangerous one, eventually your body will start shutting down and protesting.

BTW without stats it's impossible to really help. How tall are you, age, gender, weight etc

Re: Bumping up my rate of weight loss.

you are just adding 30 min of exercise now? what were you doing as your mandatory aerobic exercise part of your atkins? how about that resistance part?

fiber will hold fluids if it is soluble kind as it passes from your mouth to your butt and that added fluid will show up on your scales as pounds so be ready foir that if you decide to add more fiber.

are you just eating to eat cause it is legal and you got room in your tummy or are you feeding your hunger and stopping as soon as your current hunger is satisfied?

hard to say. Did you monitor your food with www.fitday.com or something like that?

I alos think from previous posts that you have not really followed the Atkins diet very faithfully so it is hard to expect it to work that way.

I am all for exercise. But I am not so sure it is as good a tool in weightloss as keeping an eye on what you eat is.

You can't control your body's weight of loss.

Your body isn't like a car ... you can't press down on the accelerator to make it go faster.

Following the plan as written, all of the rules all of the time, is the best way to lose weight. Dr. Atkins spent his life refining his plan...
Extra cardio is good, it won't hurt if you are following the plan properly.
