Have to say that I was ready to leave Atkins. I had stalled @ 166 for about 2 weeks. Felt like forever. But I kept it up, added a little more food to my diet and am now losing again. In the last 4 days I've dropped down to 162. So maybe there is still hope.

Re: Stalled
It's strange though right? People go on extended induction thinking that they will lose weight faster but often their weight slows down unless more food is added. I guess the body just need change to keep things moving.Grant

Re: Stalled
Good to know! Will start rung 2 soon (I'm supposed to be spacing them out every two weeks, right?) , and haven't lost that much on rung 1. Have been trying to decide to stick w/ rung 1 for a while longer or not.

Don't forget to measure yourself so you can see the inches of body fat you are burning off working your atkins both the eating and the mandatory exercise parts when the evil scale refuses to validate your efforts.by the book atkinseer

Re: Stalled
it is very normal on any weight loss plan to have a slight hesitation in scale weight loss after the initial loss due to the body adjusting to the changes going on. it happens on all weight loss plans. Atkinseers call it PISS. If you measure you should see you are shedding inches of body fat even when the scale isn't moving as long as you are working your atkins and haven't exceeded your CCLL.Originally posted by Richelle View PostHave to say that I was ready to leave Atkins. Re: Stalled
By the way, the acronym PISS stands for Post Induction Stall Syndrome, and it is a real phenomena for most people.
Our bodies are strange and miraculous, and like anything else, it takes time for it to adjust to changes. This way of eating is a real change from your previous way. Just stay on plan, and the weight and/or inches will drop, though usually not at the same time.
Mini goal 1: 180 1/23/2010 2: 170 4/25/2010 , 3: 160, 4: 150, 5: 140 Final Goal: 125

Re: Stalled
This is one big chess game with your body......you make a move and then it makes a move. Play the game and experiment with your foods each week. Over time, you will find your "naughty" list of foods (grrrrrr) and things will progress as they should. It could be PISS, it could be some new food, it could be water retention, because your body just wanted to hold water for some unknown emergency it detected. I have had four "stalls" that varied from 2-3 weeks and I just ended a 2 week "stall' yesterday with a 2 pounds wieght loss. I didn't care too much, I say too much b/c I do like to lose weight, and I kept with the program.
Keep you head up and think about your success in terms of years and not days or weeks. Peace!

Re: Stalled
Stalls can definitely wear you down mentally. I was stalled for about 3 weeks then finally broke it with an almost 4lb loss. Then gained a couple of those back. Crazy LOL
But I was taken completely off my bp meds this week so I sure can't complain. Been on them for years. I hit my first 2 goals right at 30 days each. Seems like it will be a long time coming on that 3rd one.

Re: Stalled
I don't have an Atkins book and am just getting my info from this site.
I change to eating String Beans only for veggies and increased the amount to 1 cup with my meat. Drinking more water and backed off coffee b/c I used splenda and heavy cream. I have replaced my coffee with 1 cup Herbal (no caffein) tea in the evening. I'm also checking my spices to keep carbs down. I have introduced the occassional Atkins shake for breakfast / snacks b/c I don't feel comfortable eating eggs every day due to my cholesteral being high. Also I have the occassional Atkins bar (all phases) when I'm out and can't wait till I get home to eat. I feel this is better than taking a chance with restaurant food. You just never know. I do go to Swiss Chalet occassionally, take the skin off and get a cesar or greek salad with it. I also have Brothers Pepperoni with some cheddar cheese for snacks. I keep a large zip lock bag of cut up pepperoni in the fridge and the same for cheese. Saves time and is good.
I haven't been measuring myself since I started. Just watching the scale. I will have to read up on the different rungs I can go to b/c I really have no idea. I was just going to stay on induction until I lost all my weight. I'll have to do some more browsing on the site to see what else I can eat. I was 179 when I started but am now down to 162. Goal is 120 asap. lol

Re: Stalled
Looks like your eating a lot of processed stuff. Not really great. Eggs is actually cholesterol lowering. So it would be a good help for cholestero Pepperoni is usually very sugary. Stalls many people. Cheese should be eaten in limits and vegeatles are really good for you. I often brings snap peas as a snack. Did today.

You really need to read the book.
>> I change to eating String Beans only for veggies>>
Good grief, why?
>>I have introduced the occassional Atkins shake for breakfast / snacks b/c I don't feel comfortable eating eggs every day due to my cholesteral being high.>>
See, if you were reading the book, then you would know why that isn't good thinking. The cholesterol in food isn't the problem.
>> I keep a large zip lock bag of cut up pepperoni >>
You know that we should avoid processed meats, right? And you know it doesn't get a whole lot more processed than pepperoni. Plus there's the sugar in it, and the sodium.
>>I will have to read up on the different rungs I can go to b/c I really have no idea.>>
That's why you need to read the book.
>>I was just going to stay on induction until I lost all my weight.>>
That's not how Atkins works. Nor are you likely to keep the weight off if you do that.
>>'ll have to do some more browsing on the site to see what else I can eat.>>
You do have the Induction food list right?

Re: Stalled
I'll have to get the book when I can find it. I haven't seen the new one in the book store yet. I've looked but I'm sure they will have it back in soon. I saw it before I started Atkins but not since. I've seen some Induction list for foods and I thought by sticking to the string beans I'd keep my carb count down. I'll stop the pepperoni since it's processed. Never thought of it having sugar and sodium. I've cut down the amount of cheese. Very little when I do have some. I only occassionally have a shake or bar. I don't eat them on a reg basis just in case of emergency. I can stop those no problem. Other than that my normal breakfast is eggs and cheese or eggs and bacon for breakfast. I like Frittatas and keep them in the fridge. Easy to heat up in microwave. Meats I keep around are salmon, chicken, beef, pork (occassionally), shrimp, fish. Veggies I keep around are string beans, broccoli, peas. I have cesar salads most times with my lunch or dinner. Sometimes greek salad.
