  • discouraged and curious...please help

I have been on the diet for about a month now. In the first 2 weeks, I lost 17lbs. I have not lost anything now for the past 2 weeks, and I am getting discouraged. I have read some posts about stalls, so I am still trying to be strong. But, now with the no weight loss, I did give in yesterday. I ate some meatloaf that I prepared for my family, made with breadcrumbs, ketchup and BBQ sauce. I had that thought...well, I already messed up, so now I may as well go all out...and I ate a bunch of junk. What I want to know is, if I mess up with say, that piece of meatloaf, and it puts me out of ketosis, does it take the same amount of time to get back in to ketosis as It would as eating a bunch of candy? Just curious how that works, so if I slip again, I can stop before I go all out. Just like if I go 10 carbs over my daily limit, does it have the same effect as going 300 carbs over? Will it still take 3 days to get back into ketosis? Thanks in advance for all responses.

    Hey Ginger
It is your first post. Welcome to ADBB. Glad to have you here.

So if you have read some posts you know that small stops happen and is natural and that we have to get that into our heads.
I can understand getting dicouraged but you need to sit down and have a stern talk with yourself about sticking power

So about how long it will take - I don't know. If it was just some carbs you may not even be out of ketosis - like with the meat loaf. But obviously if you used that slip as an excuse to go all the way (going all the way is not good ) then it will take a lot longer because now you really have big sugar build up to get rid of before you are back to fat burning. I think it is an individual thing how long it takes. Some a few days some shorter.
But just continue on. Look forward and plan for the future.

I make meatloaf for myself and the family that is Atkins friendly. They know no difference and I am happy

If you want to post one or two complete menus, with quantities and net carbs for all foods/drinks, we'll take a look.

Just like if I go 10 carbs over my daily limit, does it have the same effect as going 300 carbs over?
      No.

It also depends where those carbs are coming from. Going over your daily limit by 10 net carbs of vegetables is not the same thing as eating two marshmallows.

Will it still take 3 days to get back into ketosis?
Depends on your metabolism and on how many carbs you ate. It will probably take less.

Thank you so much for your quick replies and your warm welcome. I will definitely post my menu. Do I post it here or in another forum?
