  • 5lbs gone 15 days of Induction?

    Hi everyone,
I weighed myself today and the scale reads 5 lbs gone after 15 days of a clean induction, 30 minutes 5 days a week of exercise and 96oz each day of water.

I am not complaining nor whining, but I cant help but feel a little let down after reading all the posts these last few weeks of folks that have lost alot more during this induction period. I am looking for a little support and feedback from others about their weight loss during induction. I am a 54 year old female and I know because of my age, my metabolism is slower.

Can any of you out there relate? Is this good? Of course, I wish it was more and I am telling myself that this is a good loss, but I guess I just need a little encouragement from knowing others experiences.......

I've gone through the exact same thing and I'm a 50 year old female. I think at our age, we also have to look at restricting calories. The good news is, as I've learned, that you won't feel hungry or deprived on Atkins with reduced calories.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! :hug :joy Try not to compare yourself to others, no matter how tempting it is. You don't have that much to lose so you will lose slower, but you'll still lose!

With Atkins you lose 5-10% of your total loss during Induction, so you are right on target! :yes There's no need to worry, you're doing brilliantly!

Miss Seaneen,,, Hey I forgot about that 5-10% rule,,, that DOES make me feel better. thanks for the info....

Lorelei,, you too, thanks for the post. I am using fitday, which to me is a Godsend. It reads that my calories are around 1200-1300 per day, burning about a 1000 calories each day. This is FAR better then I have ever done my whole life. Its just good to hear from others cause then I know I am not alone...

I know what you mean. Whatever loss we do get is not enough, but for you to have lost almost 15-20% of your total is amazing. You can take comfort that you aren't metabolically resistant to this WOE, and you can start planning your move through OWL rungs VERY soon. Good job in that commitment to exercise and eating right. (Although Cals for your exercise level might be a bit low - just monitor your exercise performance and your energy levels for the onset of starvation mode.) I know personally how easy it is to grouse when you see some amazing folks lose 30-50 pounds in their first month, but remember you are much closer to goal and moving into lifetime maintenance than they probably are too.

            Thanks Kent,
And you are so right,, I did sorta feel like I should put a sock in my mouth, because many do have a bigger hurdle to jump,, but I suppose its just evidence that we are human and do have the same mood/mind sets.
This is exactly what I needed, a little kick... to remind me to count the blessing...
