  • extended induction

So - I made it through my first two weeks and I feel fine although I am still having cravings for sweets every now and then. I had a diet dr pepper yesterday to help with the cravings and it 'hit the spot.' I am going to keep with induction for a week or two longer just to make sure I am good to go -- it took me about a week to get into ketosis (according to the ketone sticks).

    Hope everyone is well!

The soda may have "hit the spot", but it might also keep your cravings alive.

Don't rely on the sticks ... they're not reliable.

Make sure you are eating cleanly Josh. Go through your food choices and see if you have some hidden sugars there. That may be a reason you get the cravings.

The choice to stay or leave is up to you but check out those chapters in the book and determine what is best for you.

I have not exercised much since starting atkins - I think I will start that ASAP. I will keep your advice with respect to the 'hidden sugars' in mind - but I have been very careful.

good for you getting the exercise going.

some times we have triggers that are not caused exactly by a food we eat. that is why journaling your foods along with the Ws why what when and how you feeel beforte during and after you eat could help you find your trigger.

Celery is a triggering food for me and eating legal amounts with a fat just as Dr Atkins says didn't stop my cravings afterwards so even though celery is legal for induction it isn't legal for me.

I also have issues from the stress of eating with my sister the out of control diabetic even when I eat legal and safe cause I want to eat the whole house afterwards from the frustration of knowing what she is doing to her body. I can't eat with her nor see her eating but I can talk and visit with her when food isn't around.

check your Ws and see if you have a trigger you need to avoid.
