  • 3 weeks, A bit stall

    Hi there,

I've been on atkins for 3 weeks now. & I lost about 12lbs. I need to loose 50lbs more. But I've been stall for 4 days. I'ts killing me not to see any weight lost. I measure my weight every two days.

Should I move to OWL? But I still have a lot to lost....

I'm also constipated. & flax seed doesn't help me. I live in Jakarta Indonesia. I cannot find any physillium husk. Can I use some medicine like Dulcolax (Laxative)? Will dulcolax stall my weight lost?

    Does anyone use dulcolax before?

Please, Please, Please ....help me ........

    Many Thanks.

People often find their weightloss progress slows dramatically after those first 2 weeks on induction, so you are not alone.

In fact there is a description for this happening in the 3rd/4th week on induction - called the 'post induction stall syndrome' - so you just need to concentrate on staying on plan and maybe not get on the scales for a few days while your body figures out what you are doing

It would depend on the ingredients in the ducolax - some medicines have added sugar of some kind to make them easier to get down - so check labels first.

Can you get glycerine suppositories? They often do the trick for me on thos occasions I need a bit of help to 'go'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I'm experiencing the same thing. Your body is adjusting. Let it Just keep making the right choices and things will eventually start coming off.

A stall was defined by Dr. Atkins as four consecutive weeks with no loss of pounds or inches. You're not stalled for not losing weight in four days. It's perfectly normal not to lose every day.

          Should I move to OWL?
Did you read Chapters 12 and 13 in Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)?

I'm actually don't have the book yet. Coz I cannot find it at Jakarta. I'm still waiting the book from amazon, estimated arrive on 7 June. Maybe you can help me to decide, before the book arrive? what to be considered to move to OWL...

I also read this in another thread? Should I try it too?

I was scared to move to OWL rung 1, but everyone told me that the extraz carbs would jumpstart my system because my body was thinking it was being starved on too few carbs. It worked.......be brave

i agree- add more veggie carbs and your body will deal with them. i had the same thing for about 3 weeks after induction.then i increased carb level and lost 5lbs in 2 weeks. also i find that i may not lose weight, but am losing inches so keep measuring. And why weigh every 2 days? not accurate with fluctuations- why not just weig once a week?
i know everyone is different- im surprised the flax is not helping you cos i certainly find it effective!! But you need to take it with enough water- maybe thats why?
