Job interview & weight loss

Today I have a job interview at noon which i'm excited about but very nervous. I've been wanting to find another job for awhile now. I'm an executive assistant who is currently working with a marble contractor. This isn't a line of business that I ever wanted to stay in. Anyways, the company i'm going to be interviewing with is for a major homebuilder in their mortgage department. This is a line of business i've been wanting to get involved with. Keep your fingers crossed. Anyways, in the past i've attempted finding another job. I've gone on some interviews and always came in 2nd. I always felt that I was too overweight and that's why I came in 2nd. Well here I am today 40 lbs. lighter and feeling much more confident, but still nervous, about interviewing. I went from a size 20 to a 16 very soon to be 14. I'm hoping that this is the one!

I hope your interview goes great and you get the job! I've had the feeling before that I was passed up for a job because of my weight, and it 's not a good feeling.

OK, I went to the job interview and this guy definitely wasn't selling the job. He was very dry and hard to read. I asked what the hours were and he replied "all day". He says some of the loan counselors are there from 7 a.m. till 8 p.m. Well i'm not going to do that. I have 3 kids and me and my husband work different shifts. This guy was sort of a jack arse if you ask me!

Glad you found out that job wasn't for you before you invested too much of you into it.

So when is the next interview?

Good question! I'm not applying at a bunch of places. I had my resume posted on Monster and they contacted me. At the time I thought it was a great opportunity until I met this guy. We'll see what the next one is in time. I'm hoping sooner than later.
But in the meantime I have a job. I'm in no big hurry. I just want a good opportunity with growth potential to come along.

While we all wish it was about talent and skills ;I've personally seen managers turn up their noses at candidates who were otherwise ideal, except for their weight, especially for women. Looks do count.

It's sad, but true.

Unfortunately, looks do count. I live in Las Vegas where I find that there are alot of shallow people. I wish that you could get a job on skill alone, but that's not always the case.
