    Hey all!
    I am just curious how when the medical field says it is not safe to lose more than 1-2 pounds/week, your body cannot physically metaolize more fat than that. I am at the end of week 4, and as of this am have lost 26 pounds. I feel great. I know some of you are very technicall and can probably help me here.

    That recommendation comes from the 70s or 80s. I can't remember which one but one of the popular low calorie weight loss programs had a number of folks come down with gallbladder disease. The thought was that rapid weight loss caused gallstone formation.

    Rapid weight loss has also been loosely associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis, vitamin deficiencies, etc.

      If you check the dialysis or the liposuction research they will now tell you 5% of the total body weight is accectable. More and you will have possible low blood pressure problems and go into shock. Your body also reacts to losses from the fat cells with special sensors that alter other body sites to slow down this loss as our bodies genetically thing this is a time of famine which is one of the reasons why Dr Atkins tells us to eat every 6 hours too.

          did you lose 8.5 pounds a week or did you have a huge inintial drop from thewater stored with your glycogen? Humand can have up to 20 pounds of that stuff.

          how much did you lose last week and do you feel healthy?

            Week 1-12 pounds
            Week 2-0
            week 3-9 pounds
            Week 4-5 pounds ( With TOM )

            I feel great. My joints don't hurt I am full of energy, my mood is better than it has been in years ect...
