I have heard this mentioned on the board. How exactly does it work?

Around here we call it "modified OWL", so as not to confuse it with extended Induction.Originally posted by spirittalkermodified induction is where you stay under 20 grams of carbs but you move up the rungs of OWL.
Since Modified OWLer follows OWL Rules for adding on the food groups, they're better off posting in the OWL Forum. Again, to avoid confusion here on the Extended Induction Forum and because everyone here will tell you (correctly) that you aren't doing Induction properly if you post why your weight loss stopped when you added on 3 cups of kidney beans....~Megs~

If doing modified OWL, how fast do you go up the carb ladders? One per week? Could you explain a little more about that please
I've been losing very slowly in extended induction, .5-1lb per week. Its been 6 weeks now and Im ready to add more food, but I have that carb fear you talk of so much :yikes I have scaled back my dairy quite a bit and Im finding that to help some.
I only lost 4 pounds in induction, which for needing to lose over 50 makes me metabolicly resistant. I had been sick for two weeks before I started induction and lost 6 pounds during that time from having no appetite. I wonder if that is part of the reason for my small induction loss. Maybe I really am metabolicy resistant and maybe my carb fear is justified :sadblinky
I was planning on sticking with extended induction for 6 months but I don't know if I can do that. I'd rather move on than fall off the wagon, but Im terrified of slowing down my loss even more. And Im at a loss of what to do.

You follow the OWL rules. So you introduce 5 net carbs of a food from one rung, every other day for 1 week, see what it does to your weight loss and if it alters your Blood Sugar Symptom test. If not, then add 1 one from that same rung, every day for the following week.Originally posted by pandagirlIf doing modified OWL, how fast do you go up the carb ladders? One per week? :help
You can stay on a rung for really as long as you like before moving on, particularly if you want to try out different foods on the rung.
But once you stop losing weight and/or your blood sugar symptoms return, you immediately drop whatever new food you added.
Again, post this question in the OWL forum and read the stickies in the OWL forum too.~Megs~
