  • Super B Complex and One A Day Women's Supplements

I posted this in another board, with no answers. I need some :help

Okay, I'm so scared in taking these supplements that I bought without checking the label beforehand.

    *One A Day Women's
*Nature Made Super B-Complex with Vitamin C/Folic Acid.

The reason being, I see Cornstarch, Dried Yeast, Cellulose, Starch and Iron in the ingredients.
Can someone please help me out???

Some people take these supplements without a problem being that the amount of the illegal ingredient's is so small, others have problems and switch to atkins brand. I stopped taking my one-a-day carb smart because I thought it was stalling me but now I do not think so. Also watch out for dailies with iron. We get get enough iron in our diet without the need to supplement and too much iron can be bad for the liver.

      Don't do it!

Don't do it Nikki!!!! I tried taking the One a Day Carbsmart and I stalled big time. As soon as I tossed them, I started losing again. :yes. I found some of the Atkins supplements in walmart, not too long ago, and they are working great for me. I heard also heard that walmart is about to stop carrying them :yikes. So I have to go check out Target and GNC and see if they have them in stock and for how long.

OH NO!!! The carb smart can cause a stall. I have not had any loss in a week and a half. I have tried everything I can think of. I switched to the carb smart about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago!! ugh! You would think that if they were makingthem for low carbers, they would leave out the crap!!

          Hi Nikki :wave

One-a-day, Centrum and most of the popular vitamins sold in supermarkets and drug stores are very tricky to say the least.

One-a-day is a particularly bad repeat offender and their CarbSmart is nothing more than a perfect example of corporate greed and false advertising. CarbSmart is loaded with sugar and corn starch - the cheapest fillers available.

What's difficult with vitamins and supplements is that unlike prescription drugs that are accountable to the FDA there is no government regulatory group that vitamin manufacturers report to - they answer to no one

So in essence they're free to make any claims they want, use low quality sub standard ingredients and even misrepresent the levels/quantity of the key ingredient without much fear of repercussion.

That said, it's not all bad news. There are many good and dependable brands including Solgar, TwinLabs, The Vitamin Shoppe, Natures Bounty, Natures Best and many others. These all test well time and time again with consumerlabs.com which functions more or less like a consumer reports for the vitamin industry.

I'm partial to the vitamin shoppe, they've been around for decades, use pharmaceutical grade ingredients and offer a great value. They're a national chain so chances are there's one close to you - if not you can order from their web site at www.thevitaminshoppe.com

You may have to do a bit of leg work - but finding the right supplements is worth the effort they make a tremmendous difference.

I would also recommend to anyone interested in vitamins and supplements to pick up a copy of "Dr Atkins Vita - Nutrient Solution" it's a great companion to DANDR and in it's own right a remarkable and life changing book.

Thanks for the insightful info. I was wondering why I didn't lose anything over the past 4 weeks, even though I had cut my carb level back a bit and hadn't introduced any new foods.

Lo and behold, it could be because I had decided to finish up a bottle of One-a-day 50 Plus that I had sitting around. Those last 6 pills can get thrown out! Back to Atkins Basic 3 for me.

Don't take the risk! It ain't worth it! I also found that my weight loss slowed dramatically when I changed supplements. Finally managed to get some Atkins supps sent out from the UK. Was a relief.
