  • Extended Induction, one pound loss after one week

Guys, Im kinda depressed. I weighed in yesturday and only lost one pound. Now after this my weigh in date will be the 7th of every month. Im looking at all I ate this week, and I ate some cream and cheese, that was relativly new to my diet, I really didnt have em on induction. Should I cut em out for the next week and see what happens? Maybe the slow me down. Im drinking 160oz. of water, and excercising 30 minutes a day, maybe I should step up my excercise routine? I dunno.
    Some one gimme your opinion.

    Thanks Guys!

    Give this a read:

Stepping up the exercise is never a bad idea, but depending on what you're doing you need to remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so you might not see the scale move, but your bodyfat might be diminishing.

A tape measure is a better friend to you than your scale :yes

Are you using Fitday to see how your ratio's are lining up?

Unless you are seriously going over your cream and cheese limits, I wouldn't worry about that.

Just be patient, make sure you're eating according to the Rules and accept the fact that sometimes there are pauses in the weight loss.

I would be thrilled with 1 lb lost, after 2 weeks on extended induction for me, I gained 2lbs... now I have to be even more careful to see if its just a fluke, or if it means I cant go over 20 carbs a day in order to lose... I am hoping not. look at it this way, 1lb a week is 4lbs a month is 40lbs in 10 months,, I figure its gonna take me at least that long to get to my goal

To add to Cathy's comment, Dr Atkins also advises that the longer you take to lose your weight, the more likely you are able to keep that weight off permanently.

It's the inches lost that matter, not the numbers on scales, because even they can be faulty - mine gives me a different reading in different parts of the house, whether the floor is level, whether I put in tiles or carpet!

I haven't lost much weight either, and I've been dedicated..my only real problem the first two weeks was drinking diet soda. I'm on atkins for the long run though, so hopefully by this time next year I'll be at my goal weight :yes

A slow down after the first 14 day is normal. I would wait it out for another couple weeks before trying to outthink the diet by exercising more or looking for trigger foods. I think it might be a little presumptive as your body is probably just getting used to the current weight. I know hesitations are frustrating, but give it some time before changing what worked so well in Induction.

                  Hey Holly!

After my first 3 weeks on induction, I lost NOTHING and actually was gaining and re-losing the same 4 pounds for THREE weeks! It was driving me insane, because I really wasn't cheating at all, was exercising and drinking all my water....
But then, in the next two weeks after that, I lost 7 pounds, and kept going like crazy after that.
Hang in there, I think sometimes our bodies just need a minute to catch up!

At the beginning of every week I start a water chart...

On this chart every circle is 16oz.... so that is 128 oz. Plus what ever water I drink for excercising. It is an easy way to keep track and I just sit here and sip...the only way I can get it down is to not pay attention.

                        Best Water Wishes.
