you know alot times we don't see the changes that are there...I remember the first time I lost a large amount of weight and I still saw the old body in the mirror...I think thats why I gained it all back...have you had feedback from friends or family? how about your measurements?

Sometimes it takes about 50-75 pounds to reallllly notice.

Adding to this, if you're wearing baggy clothes, that makes you look bigger.

Cleochatra, how hard did you work to lose so much weight, it's been less than a year and the pounds seemed to have melted away. Was it difficult?

goal 65- hang in there. Sometimes, we dont see ourselves as we really appear-if that makes sense!
IF the scale is telling you 46lbs, be proud for pete sake!! That is quite an accomplishment! Maybe you need to go buy a new pair of jeans. Perhaps buying a smaller size will then confirm what the scales are telling you. Besides, you deserve it! Once you get those smaller jeans on, people will notice and tell you so. That does the mind alot of good!!!!
So, sit tight kiddo and keep up the good work- :yes

Oh, does anyone know here how much a person who is 5 ' 9 should weigh if they aren't just skin and bones. Im looking to look like a slim person but hopefully as i get closer to goal, work out to become muscular.. people have been saying 165 is too little weight for a boy 5 '9 and it should be closer to 175-185. Does anyone know if this is true?

island-- the toughest thing for me on this woe of eating has been psychological. Knowing now that I'm not tethered to food for every whim of boredom, and can't look to it anymore as a salve in times of frustration has sometimes been the worst.

The diet part is easy! Atkins did all the hard work, and we only have to follow what he told us to do.

It's the old habits that die hard, but the change is good change.

goal-- I've been eating 20 carbs or less the whole time on this WOE. So that translates into my starting out the same as you-->initial induction. After that there has been a continuation of extended induction; however, since I'm going up the rungs of the ladder, that is technically called (at ADBB) "Modified OWL".

So, in short, since last August, I've spent my time eating 20 net carbs or less.

And if you are muscle, 165 is not too little weight for someone your height. My husband is 5'10" and should weigh in the 150's. A lot depends on your build in frame and your body mass index at that weight. someone who is flabby at 165 isn't the same as someone who is buff at 165.

So make weight secondary to size/fitness level.

I've noticed that on Atkins, you tend to lose all over where as on a lowfat diet, the first place you lose is in your face and then it moves down your body. I have noticed that some people that go on Weight Watchers or one of the other lowfat diets, just look like smaller fat people, I don't know how to explain it, but people on Atkins end up looking slim all over.

you can figure out your true goal weight by finding out how mych lean bosy tissue you have. you can get it measured at a gym at your docs at a dree health clinic or by taking a whole bunch of measurements at mybody.com once you know how much lean tissue you have you will know where your final weight should be.

For example at 200 pounds with 170 pounds of lean tissue you will have 15% bodyfat but wuth 120 pounds of lean tissue you would have 40% body fat so you would still be over weight and actually obese.

Atkins allows us to keep more lean body mass and actually grow some more while we lose body fat. you are going to see you are smaller clothes size at a higher weight on the way down then you wewre on the way up gaining your weight.

                            Happy low carbing.
