  • What will you do when you reach goal?

This has been crossing my mind alot here lately since I only have a mere 44lbs left to loose. I think alot about what size will i be in...etc. I look at myself in the mirror and i'm like woah...you have lost 32 lbs girl....what ya gonna look like when you've lost 76...teeehheee.

Just wondering if anyone is thinking about this as much as me.

I will buy new clothes and they will be sexy. I am considering going under the knife for a tummy tuck. I have major baby belly and even when I was thin it was there. I would like to be able to wear a bikini for the first time in 10 years.

That's what I plan to do too!!!!!

Additionally, I've been saving some money away from my goal gift. See, everytime I save money for doing something I previously wasn't able to do, like shovel the snow off my driveway, I put the money I would have spent into my goal jar. I also pay myself for minor things, like not going postal on someone who's really Atkins ignorant, or going an extra mile during my exercise routine, etc. So, when I reach goal, I'll break open the goal jar and spend it on something nice for me.

I always previously looked at goal as being the moment when the heavens opened, the birds sang and the angels played their harps.

In all truth, maybe it'll sound more like a 10-year old making armpit noises...

Perhaps a tad off topic but...are you thinking about this because it worries you? Are you afraid of what might happen when you reach your goal? That perhaps you will let your guard down a little and develop some bad habits again? As somebody whom is almost at her goal let me tell you what I’ve learned so far. To the people who say losing weight is hard, that certainly is one thing but it is NOTHING compared to as hard as it is to keep it off. Decide now whether or not you are committed to living an Atkins lifestyle. This means for the rest of your life. If you can’t honour yourself with that promise then what’s the point of even doing this, right? If you are using Atkins as just a quick fix and you start eating carbs again the weight will pack on twice as fast as it has when your previous diets have failed. It is important to always fit exercise into your day. I don’t buy the "5 day a week" plan. You need to be getting some activity every day of the week. Even if that means getting up at 5:30am to jog a few miles.

When I started dating again a few months ago I found myself in quite a dilemma. My dates were interested in going out for ice cream, going to theaters and sharing big bags of popcorn, renting movies and ordering pizza in. I started splurging here and there and soon found myself becoming re-addicted to the carbs that I had worked so hard to overcome my addiction too. I figured splurging only on date nights would be ok but the fact was I was starting to climb the scale again. I stopped dating last month to re-commit myself to the low carb lifestyle. I have just started dating again but this time I’m doing it right. I’m open with my partners about my lifestyle and I ask them to respect my choices. If we go to the theater we bring soy nuts for a snack. When we’re home watching a movie we make chicken wings and if we feel like ice-cream we look for specialty shops that have low carb options. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it is important that you be resourceful and never compromise your diet.

Stay focused and remain forever committed! Good Luck

I've been below goal for nearly 2 years. I can tell you, its soooooooooooooo worth it.

If you are exercising regularly and eating healthy Atkins-approved foods, you will look better and feel better than you ever thought possible.

I am nearly 50 and nobody can believe I am that old. See what the lack of sugar does for you??? I

Oh my gosh, maintenance is hard and yet so rewarding.

YOU CAN ALL DO IT! Heaven knows if this reformed couch potato can do it, anyone can!!!
