  • I turn to my fellow atkineers

    with two problems..
    1) im very dissapointed because i was down to 330 on sat. but, yesterday i was up to 331.. i figured ok its just one lb. tomorrow ill eat less- today, i was 333. i havent cheated, ive been eating the same way- why am i gaining?!?! this makes me upset!!!!!

    2) nosebleeds; has anyone gotten them on atkins? im thinking thats why ive gotten it, it wasnt a real nosebleed, my nose had blood in it but it wasnt leaking blood. ive had this 2-3 times before (all while on atkins).

    First: stop weighing every day !!!

    Third: you should'nt eat less, I was even stalling and gaining weight when I ate less, coming to this board made me realise I had to eat more and there you go; I started losing weight again.
    Fourth: I never heard about nosebleeds due to following atkins.
    I think that you really need to check a doctor for that, I really don't think it is connected to atkins though, even more since you are already on atkins this long, why all of a sudden would you get nosebleeds of it, so there must be something else being wrong.

      Hi goal65,

      Bammer :sadblinky , the only thing I would say is not to starve yourself("figured ok its just one lb. tomorrow ill eat less- today"), drink plenty of water and exercise more. Give it a week and see what happens, don't weigh yourself until end of week. Good luck!!

          i have NO IDEA whats going on...333 again today. =( today im going to try to drink 200oz of water and do 1/2 hour exercise.

            Hi,

            You should post your menu and let us take a look at it. Have you gotten out the ol' tape measure and mesured yourself? Even when I'm not losing weight, I'm losing inches. You will learn as you go along that the scale is an evil, evil creature that you shouldn't step on more than once a week.

            We are having really bad pollen here in Maryland right now. I notice that my sinus are much better now that I have been on Atkins, but I do occasionally notice blood when I blow my nose, I think it's just allergies, nothing to do with Atkins.

              Do you suffer from seasonal allergies perhaps?
              When I used to go through that I'd often find blood when I blew my nose just because my sinuses were really irritated. I wouldn't worry if it is just a little bit, but talk to your doctor about it, of course.

                all the fluid you are drinking should help keep your nasal passages hydrated and the air you are exhaling moist. I usually get nosebleeds when we switch on the heater in the winter as my body adjusts to that drier air and in the summer when we cut the AC on as the AC removes humidity from the air too.

                Mucus is made of carbs and you will notice if you were an allergy sufferer that you have less mucus on Atkins.

                  nose bleeds can be caused by a lack of vitamin C make sure you are taking your supplements. and dont worry about the ups and downs what counts most is the overall downs weigh just once a month and you wont be upset by daily fluxuations that occur naturally.

                    Any sudden shifts in weather where you are? Over here, the summer heat made me retain water. I had to almost double my water intake just to compensate.

                      Ok, don't panic about being up a couple of lbs! If you are truly watching your carbs, then you are up water weight only, not fat!! This matters! I will fluctuate as well.

                      Are you eating a lot of sodium? Last week I lived on deli meats for a couple of days (which are high in sodium and probably had sugar too), and I gained 9 lbs in 2 days!!!!! I thought my scale had broken, or worse yet, I thought that it was broken before, and I was really 240 lbs instead of 231! Oh the mind games we play!

                      I ended up going with pure meats again and upped my water big time, exercised more and zoom! Down went the scale.

                      Wait a few days so your body can excrete the excess water and press on!

                      No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!
