It is possible but remember this is not a crash diet, you need to go through all that phases in order to maintain the weight loss.

Possible, but keep in mind what Anubus said and also that women lose a little slower unfortunately...

This isn't a race, but a change in lifestyle. If you stick with it though I'm sure you will be very pleased with the results regardless of how fast you go. Keep it up!

I was 226 when i started back in the begining of Feb. It's taken me this long to loose 35lbs right now. I would say it depends on how your body is. There is no real way to tell but i'm sure you will be alot skinnier if you stick to it! Good luck!

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I know it helped me when I was starting out...

We all want to lose a really large number, and I'll wager most of us have an idea of the time frame we want to accomplish that in. For me, it's my 30th birthday coming up early next year. But in the meantime, I had to ask myself - would I be happy if I'd only lost half, or 3/4 of my weight by then? And my answer was YES! Even if I haven't made it to goal, I will be happier and more satisfied weighing 50 pounds less. Heck, I'd be happy weighing 30 pounds less.

All that aside, I'd say that's possible, though for your sanity's sake I'd ask myself if you'd be happy even being 50/75 pounds smaller.

I hope you make it to your goal! :yes

Hi. :wave I would have to say that anything and everything is possible! But remember that everybody's loss is different. It depends on your body. Some can loose 50 lbs in 3 months, others 50 lbs in a year. So, keep your head up and remember.....anything is possible if you believe! :icondance
              Big hugs! :hug

Hi there :wave First and foremost, yay! You are young! Believe me, that will help you. You are still producing the growth hormone, which is what naturally helps youngsters stay slim.

Secondly, before you start ANY weightloss plan, please go with your Mom or Dad to the doctor and get a physical. Have him take your blood and get a blood panel done.

You are a teen, which means that you are still growing and you need nutrition!!! If you follow Atkins precisely, eat all the required veggies, drink your water, take vitamins and exercise, you WILL lose weight!

Your body may or may not be compartmentalized by your 100 lbs loss in 8 months plan, however. You must remember that at first, we lose faster and more lbs, then the loss tapers off. You will lose steadily, but not as fast as you may desire.

Many folks quit a diet plan when their weightloss fails to live up to the strict plan they set forth. Your goal should be to stick with your new WOL (way of life), get healthier and lose according to what your body says, not what the piece of paper says.

Remember, in 8 months you could be your same weight, heavier, down 50 lbs or down 100 lbs. If you are down weight and eating the Atkins way, you WILL feel so much better and look better! Which one do you want to be?

                Good luck!!!

                No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!

Nobody can promise you any weight loss by any time. Your metabolism and how hard you work the exercise part of your Atkins, and stick to the correct foods will determine how well you succeed on Atkins. You will be healthier and smaller in 8 months time if you follow Atkins.

With rapid weight loss comes the tendency to regain the pounds too as we can all see from the repeat slimfast dieter folk. Dr Atkins stresses in the books that those that work all the phases of the plan have the best success at keeping the weight off cause they practice using the tools like portion control and blood sugar stabilization folks learn doing Atkins to help them deal with any food situation they should encounter.

take the time to read Dr Atkins book and understand what you are going to be committing to. Talk with your doctor about your special needs as a developing young lady and then decide if this is what you are ready to commit yourself too.

                  Happy low carbing.

If you drink plenty of water and exercise, you will lose weight. You may end up finding out that you don't need to lose 100 pounds to be happy. I have lost 28 pounds but I am wearing pants 2 sizes smaller already. On lowfat diets, I would have to lose 50 or 60 pounds before anybody noticed on this woe, I am already receiving compliments and every pound is noticable. Good Luck, what is happening in 8 months?

It's very possible for you to lose a lot in the next 8 months due to your youth, and depending on how well you understand how Atkins works, and also how focussed you are on your goals.

You'll want to read this sticky, so you are prepared for any lulls in weight loss, and so you understand that these are normal, and happen to everybody.

Definitely read the book (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002, DANDR for short) and definitely take your parents with you to the doctor to make sure everything is good to go, and you have a solid support system.

I wish I could remember who wrote this...it was one of our moderators or members here. :confused It was written for a 14 year old who wanted to start Atkins but this info could very well apply to you.
You're 14. So I highly recommend that you not try this or any other diet unless you are monitored by a physician. Your doctor should be seeing you at least monthly to check your weight loss rate (to make sure you aren't losing too quickly), you blood work and other things. See, you're still growing and developing, so your nutritional needs are very different from us older folks.

I also suggest that you look into the low carb plan described in the book Feed your kids well by Fred Pescatore, MD. Dr. Pescatore was the Associate Director of the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine during much of the 1990s. The diet described in his book is the diet that the Atkins Center used for children and teens (at least that's what Dr. Atkin's introduction in the book says). This diet is much more nutritionally suitable for a growing teen than the Atkins Diet.
That's why it's important to go see a doctor. Also, by having to report to a physician, it can help motivate you to stick to things all that much more. That's what I did, and it really helped me to be accountable to my doctor, even though I was doing this for myself. :yes

so there...lots to think about..all the best to you! :joy

I'm 16, with a similar goal, but my goal is only 90 pounds since i'm so tall. I don't think you should put a time limit on your weight loss though, I figure if I lose all 90 pounds in atleast 2 years, because I still believe that the slower you lose the weight the better chances of you keeping it off in the long run
