  • How does this happen.....?

    Hey friends-

Can someone please exsplain this to me? I don't understand how
I can loose inches and my clothes are getting looser-but the
scale has only gone down 3 pounds? I have been on Atkins
for a month now doing everything completely correct.

Don't get me wrong..I am not discouraged at all. I love eating
this way and planning my meals. I am really taking care of
myself. I only have 20 pounds to loose...but it means alot to
me to get it off. Just wondering.....

Maybe since you don't have that much to lose your weight isn't coming off as quick. It's a great thing that you're losing inches, so commend yourself on that. Patience is the key to Atkins. This is a Way Of Life, not a diet.

hmm i'm getting pretty good at this advice thing ensive

      Hi :wave
Most people lose between 5% and 10% of their hoped-for loss on the first 14 days of induction, so with a total of 20 pounds to lose you are well up to par :wave
Congratulations on your loss so far :clapping

Have you considered moving on to OWL now?

Ongoing Weight Loss is the main phase of Atkins where we reintroduce those foods not allowed in Induction to see how they affect us and add carbs to discover how many we can eat and still lose weight. Some people find they can eat up to 100 carbs and continue their weightloss!!

Dr Atkins told us to move to the pre-maintenance phase when we still have 5-10 pounds to lose so you really need to start climbing the OWL ladder now or you will reach goal before you have followed the stages of Atkins as per the book. :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

        Hi Pie4me,

Just a few words that may help you, like you, I have not had a large amount to lose and thought that it would be really slow, if at all.

I stuck to every detail of the induction, no cheats and then reduced the amount I was eating down to 1200 cals. I exercised daily, but not obsessively (I feel that going overboard works against you), and lots of water. The weight flew off over a few weeks. I have just moved back to induction from OWL as I have been on medications and a glucose drip and need to clear my system.

The only problem I had was making sure I could stay clean, it took a few attempts :yikes.

Good luck and reap the rewards.

          Hi again,

Just noticed that you live in Tennessee, I grew up in Nashville (11 years) when I was a kid. I loved it, wish I had managed to get back and live
there, I have so many great memories :nod.

          Bye

You could be putting on muscle as you lose the fat.
