  • Okay I lied

I just don't think I'm ready for OWL! I am kinda liking extended induction! So............I'm back. Only until I lose down to 185 though. My final goal will be 165lbs---so I figure I will spend the last 20lbs moving through the rest of the phases.

I'm truly a chicken when it comes to OWL. :yes

Iyshiaf, I keep thinking that I'll go to owl when I get down to 200 pounds, maybe not? But this extended induction is so wonderful, I lost 8 pounds in 7 days this week!

Iwillbethin, you look hot baby! Love the new pic. I can't figure out how to put my picture on here!

Come on you gals need to get going on the great food experiment part of OWL. This is where you are going to learn how carbs, food groups and foods within a food group efectr you. The more time you spend practicing making the correct food choices and understanding how your body reacts the better prepared you will be to be a long term success story! :yes :yes

Now what is so scary about 5 more net carbs of theose yummy induction veggies? I know y'all want to have a strong foundation for your house of Atkins but you really really need to spend time selecting and working on putting up the timbers for your framing so you can support that roofing during premaintnenacne when you have lost your apetite suppression effects :yikes Knowing your individual portion control sizes and what foods you do well with will go a long way towards making you a long term sucess on Atkins.

Just like school you can't stay in 1st grade forever. yes the next level is harder but you will master it too. so come one pick those 5 net vegie carbs and move on.

            Happy low carbing

Hi iyshiaf - thanks for posting in my journal.

Not sure if you've read today's entry but... I'll tell you in this post. I've been on OWL for about a week now and I'm really struggling. I don't know if it's more of an emotional thing or not. But since I've gotten my head around moving from ext Induction to OWL, it's like I've suddenly been unleased into the "more veggies" world. I was fighting tooth and nail to stay in ext Induction - I really like the people and the familiarity of it.

But OWL... I moved from 15 to 20g carbs and even though I'm not getting cravings, but I'm having the urge to eat lots of veggies and have gone over my daily carb allowance for a couple of days. I just feel so uncomfortable in OWL.

I know I'm supposed to try and encourage you to stay in OWL, but I just had to empathise with you, and tell you that I am struggling with moving on from ext Induction.

Just remember the more time you spend in OWL practicing your new Atkins food control skills the better you wioll be at maintaining your healther smaller you and isn't that what this is all about! I spend 6 monts in extended induction and lost 100 pounds I then spent 1 yr in OWL losing the next 41 pounds. Sure I could have raced to goal faster with a lower carb count but I was seeing how I handled the foods and what legal foods tiggered me to have cravings and I learned how to catch and control them before thewy became a large carb blow out.

It is very scary to get to premaintnencance and discover that poof appetite suppression is gone and we have to control ourselves. All that OWL practice sure helped me.

                  Happy lowcarbing.

                    Thanks everyone!

2big I know we have to move on one of these days, but honestly today is not my day! I have to wait until I am sure, and until I get to 185lbs. When I am 20lbs away from goal, I will have not problem with it. My biggest fear is gaining, or having my weight loss stop for an extended period of time.

Tickle and iwillbethin- I'm glad I'm not the only one. I said to myself that I would start this week, then I started and was totally uncomfortable with the whole thing. I just can't make myself stay and do something that I'm uncomfortable with. While I understand that at some point we have to move up the phases of this woe, I also understand that part of this whole woe is to do things at your own pace. With that said, I will be in extended induction until I am 185lbs. :hug

After reading your latest post Iyshiaf, I SOOO want to run back to Ext Induction where I know you and everyone else there and it feels safe!

But I know if I go back now, some like Jimmie48 will be so disappointed it me - the least I could do is give it a go a bit longer before I run back to Induction.

It took me a few weeks to make up my mind and convince myself to move to OWL - and when I did move, it's every bit as bad as I imagined it to be! LOL

I came back because I didn't want to get to comfortable with the fact that I could add foods back in. Sure you go in phases, but EI is pretty strict as far as what you eat and I like that. For right now I will stick with this--I didn't want to risk giving in to cheats. or skipping rungs just so I could add certain foods back in..that sort of thing!

You need to know that when you do go to OWL, you can stay as long as you feel comfortable on the rungs. I went to rung 1, more veggies and stayed there for ..oh gee...about 3 months I guess, because I was happy to have the extra veggies.
Your digestive system will thank you for it, and you'll have a bigger variety to choose from, so it's really no big deal.
