Does anybody here have AFL? I just got it and the menus seem very low fat. Anybody else notice this? They give different menu with varying carb count for folks with different CCLs, but not calorie or fat gram info. It all looks very low calorie though.

I found that after 2 weeks on greasy induction food I was *glad* to drop the fat content a bit! I have a sneaky feeling Atkins works by getting you off the carbs and getting you sick of grease at the same time. That only leaves room for healthy stuff!

I think (and I could be totally wrong) that the reason for this is that in life maitenence, you are generally eating more carbs. Carbs raise your insulin, insulin stores fat. If you are going to eat more carbs, it seem to make sense to lessen the amout of fat you are eating. Not by too much though because the fat and protien help to control any insulin spikes caused by the carbs. Also if you are eating more carbs, you are consuming more calories, the easiest way to balace that is to cut out some fat. Once you are out of ketosis you aren't primairily burning your body fat as energy, so it makes sense to try to control your calories to avoid storing new fat.

I love AFL. Here is how I use it. I don't really focus on the menus, I use the food lists. Basically, I try to keep most of my choices in the eat regularly column, and then moderately column maybe once or twice a week. The eat sparingly column is usually no more than once a month, or on special occassions. The trick for me is to adjust my intake based on what I have each day. I don't acutally count the carbs anymore, I just stay with the whole unprocessed stuff for the most part.
