  • Typical menu/food during maintenance

I've read Atkins for Life and am now in the maintenance phase. I've tried Atkins to lose a few lbs, which I have not done, but I enjoy the food so much and haven't gained anything, other than a few ups and downs with my weight, so for now I'm sticking with it.

Just not sure I'm eating the right proportion of fat/protein and carbs. I try to get to about 50 carbs a day, but almsot find it difficult since I don't eat a lot of grains or beans that are really high carb.
    I typically eat:
B: 1/2 cup fiber one with 2% hood milk with 1/2 c strawberries
    or
two egg omlet with mozz and ham
2-3 cups coffee with a little sweet and low and little cream

Snack: 2 oz mozz or 1/2 c cottage cheese
    or
2 oz of nuts, macadamia or almonds

Lunch: 2-3 cup salad of romaine and spinach with o/v, radishes, a few green olives, half a roma tomato.
1 lo carb tortilla with egg salad or ham
occasionally also 1/2 c of veges with a little butter or fried turnips/jicama

snack: 1-2 oz of jerky or a plum or some strawberries

Dinner: a pork chop, chicken or steak and a cup of veges, usually cauliflower or asparagus or broccoli with cheese sauce or butter.

A beer or glass of wine in the evenings..

Does this seem appropriate for the maintenance stage? I'd love to drop just a few lbs, but I don't think it's in the cards for me while I'm on Atkins. I do drink water, exercise and take vitamins.

I am sorry but I am confused, if you want to lose a few pounds why are you in the maintenance phase? also you are trying to lose I would cut out the fiber one and the tortilla. maybe you could substitute ground flax seed for the fiber one. hth. ensive

If you are a teen or only a few pounds away I think going on Maintenance is great. You can eat like this and still lose weight even if its slowly. Better than being too strict and crashing then giving up. Even Dr Atkins said if you are 10 pounds or less from goal to go into the last stages so you can make this a lifetime habit.
