I have been on the atkins for 8 months now I have lost 50 pounds my goal is to get to 195 and I am at 215 my question is I was at 210 I stayed strong on my diet and for some reason I woke up the next morning and I weighed 215 can someone explain why this happened or how? my other question is it seems that it has gotten real hard for me to lose my weight now, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this with atkins and if so does the weight loss speed back up or is it just going to be this hard from this point on

You are quite close to goal. It will be more difficult to lose weight from now on. Sorry about that.

Which phase of the program are you following? By now you should be using OWL and climbed a few rungs of the carb ladder, if not all. Can you post some menus for us? You've been doing so well, I can't imagine that there is a problem with the foods you are eating, but just in case you've overlooked something....

Don't fret over that gain just yet. Did you exercise more than usual in the last few days? Could you be retaining water? Did you stop drinking water? Add or change meds? So many possibilities. Can you be more specific about what you've been doing in the last 4 days or so?

      Well

Well it could be water weight, I don’t know the only thing I have done different in the last week was I drank a lot of Crystal Light instead of water but Crystal Light does not have any carbs

You may have found the culprit! No carbs, but it's sweetened with aspartame.

Aspartame can be problematic for some people. You may be one of them. Aspartame is not recommended for this program, regardless of which phase you are in. See pages 128-129.

Water, water and more water. :nod Check pages 127-128.

You can have soft drinks sweetened with Splenda. Diet Rite makes several flavors. Try unsweetened Koolaid and sweeten it with Splenda. Decaf coffee and decaf tea. Many people like herbal teas. Club soda, seltzer, clear broths (check the labels though) But remember, none of these count toward your water intake. Only water counts as water.

Mustard is permitted. Ketchup has sugar and is not appropriate for Induction, but may be acceptable depending on which phase of the program you are following. I don't know where it falls on the carb ladder ensive

Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), large print book, chapter 11. Look under beverages Maybe the page numbers are different in the large print book, sorry.

I've found that the only way I can really lose weight as this point is to exercise like crazy.
I 've been doing an hour step-aerobics class at the gym 1x a week and it seems to be working.....

Crystal Light in the bottle is w/Splenda
                      Crystal Light powered is w/Aspartame.

Could be reaction to the crystal light, & maybe not.
I drink it now, we can't get the premixed w/Splenda here so I mix up a jug of the powdered & 1 mix 1 parts crystal light to 3 partsw/soda water. Just enough to give some flavour & I'm lucky, it doesn't stall me.

Any kind of artificial sweetner including Splenda stalls certain people who are sensitive too it. So that could be your problem.

But like Iap says, the closer you get to goal the harder it gets.
                      EXRCISE helps the most
I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once

also don't rely on your scale to always give you an accurate reading, the normal bathroom scale, even the expensive ones can be plus or minus 5+ pounds depending on how you stand and even more so on some surfaces.

Some of us dispense advice based on 128 pounds of weight loss in less than a year. Some people will only tell you what they read in the book whether it has done them any good or not.
