very well said and you are right I think for some folks it is self defeating to feel bad or sick because they ate something not on the program....I think that was my problem in the begining I am not an all or nothing person...for others it is however and I understand and support that to....I bagged induction after three good attempts...it was not healthy for me at all....and I did it to the letter..my stomach rebeled!....but have found a comfortable and healthy place doing "For Life"...a friend on the board told me to try actually reducing fat ..when I developed this stupid stomach problem (I never had trouble previously) she said to check out "Atkins for Life" more variety and less fat ..the fat is not great for everyone either apparently!..thanks for putting that so well! I am looking forward to more people making it to this point...it is so much better and easier to follow!...I am pleasantly surprised I am loosing weight here...

I agree, We all have to find a healthy way of eating that works for us. There is so much focus on the "cheating" word that it can make us feel really bad about ourselves if we happen to eat something that is not on the list or are not able to eat the recommended amount of fat for Atkins. I love Atkins and it works for me. My daughter is a veggetarian and has problems eating fatty foods much like nurselady. My mother does low fat/low cal. We just have to respect what others do that works for them. Some people on Atkins are very strict and thats great. Some folks are not as strict and thats OK also as long as you are happy with the results. I just think that there is to much focus on the work CHEAT I guess. Yes we have to be focused and on this WOE long enought to become in tune with out bodys and how we react to different foods. I will be 43 in September and I have never been in tune with my body before I started atkins. Now I can tell if a certain food is going to affect me in a negative way. So do I "CHEAT" ? Probably.

I cheated all the time! By that I mean I didn't follow the "order" of OWL and things like that. I never ate stuff like corn, potatoes or non LC icecream. But I would eat this bread that I discovered that had 0 net carbs. If I found a muffin mix that was very low carb, I would do eat it. As I learned about the increasing number of low carb products, I would use them if it was in my range of carbs. I started drinking the HOods/Atkins milk occasionally before I made it to the dairy rung. I cheated very little with fruit. I finally met my goal yesterday, and am just now contemplating trying a peach or something like that. It's kinda scary thinking of eating some of these higher carb fruits, because my metabolic resistance is high.

I've had one real piece of bread in the last 15 months.
When I do "cheat" it's for crunchy stuff like potato chips or nachos.
I stay as far away from sugar and trans fats as I can.
I eat a lot of salads and stuff and give the croutons to the kids.

For dinner tonite I had fajitas (pepper, onion, bean dip, chicken, cheese, guac on lo-carb tortilla) with a 0-carb Fuze drink and raspberries for dessert. Now that's NOT your induction-friendly fare but I can handle the extra carbs from the beans and berries without gaining weight.
