What kind of tortillas or wraps do you recommend. I cant seem to find any low carb ones without trans fat. My next stop is the health food store.

*opens her Atkins Shopping Guide Book*
"if your market doesn't stock controlled-carb tortillas, reach for the corn tortillas-they are an acceptable choice in the later phases od Atkins and lower in carbs then the flour ones." (he doesn't say what phases, but WOW every corn i've picked up I thought was higher carbs?)
* Atkins Bakery Tortillas (phases 2-4)
5g net carbs per tortilla
* La Tortilla Factory (phases 1-4)
3g net carbs per tortilla
those are the only two I see listed in the book that he "okays" as not having trans-fats, added sugars and such.
I personally like the wheat Mission low carb tortillas, but not sure if they are 100% acceptable (just read that a user stated they have trans fats) /cry. Another decent tasting one is Mama Lupe's Low-Carb Tortillas @ 3g net carbs (when you buy them look for the "cooking marks" browned and such, I bought 2 packages and one without marks seemed to be on the doughy side and stuck to my tortilla pan one with marks was much better). Another user stated that she buys Joseph's pita pockets, but I read that they have corn starch =( Hope this helps!

thanks for the information. I didn't know there was a shopping guide book!
the breads, cereals and tortillas really get confusing to me. whole grain wholewheat, trans fat, stone ground etc etc. there are so many choices and the labeling is so very confusing. I looked at the low carb Special K cereal at the grocery store and noticed on the nutrition information they now have "other carbs" Seems to be just carbs they have decided not to count? Well I decided its not worth eating something that is labelled in such a way! Thanks for all your help.

First of all, kudos to you for not eating TransFats. My new mission in life is to inform people about this dangerous stuff, though most of them couldn't care less. Its really sad. But anyways, these are really great transfats-free tortillas:
also, if you have a super wal-mart go to the deli section and they have what are called Flatdown Carbdown Bread. Its like pita bread, they are huge and REALLY good! Good luck finding them.

I also recommend La Tortilla Factory - the large size has 5 net carbs and is a great pizza crust!!
Very good flavor with no trans fats or hidden carbs... a great alternative to the carb laden variety.5'8" 31 year old WM -Atkins since May 16,2004
