  • Ok need help guys. I lost atkins book and feeling bad.

Ok I hit my goal weight over in summer all on induction.

I went from 175 to 125. I want to stay at 125 pounds and dont want to loose weight or gain either.

I am 15 year old male. How many carbs should I have in one day??? I started to eat grapes and fruits and staying with natural sugar you find in fruits. I REALLY want to eat a sandwhich with low carb bread can I do that?? I lost my atkins book so I need help lol.

Since I am on Atkins for Life can I have more low carb products that was not allowed on induction ot OWL.
I am a strong bealiver in "eat what ever you want just keep it in portions" such as a sandwhich and salad you know? and maybe 2 or 3 pieces of chips nothing much and over the limit.

My mom says since I am young I can have more carbs and a bit more sugar than 36 year old people on atkins and should eat what ever I want just in MODERATE portions and not go overboard like I did before atkins.

Should I also start to watch my calories, and how many carbs should I have in one day :help :help

I am VERY confused and afraid that I am going to mess up and gain weight which is deppressing me so you guys are my only hope. :sadblinky

So basically what should I do I lost my book...cant buy a new one and need your help: How many carbs should I eat per day. How much sugar? and should I start watching my calorie intake and lower it while increasing carb intake? Is my mom right about the eat like a normal child just keep it in portions?I am very confused and need help on how to do all this properly..please help.... :help :help :sadblinky :help :help

    Relax David.

Everyone is different and require a different level of carbs/calories a day. I have yet to count either since I made goal in February. I just eat in moderation (anything I want), exercise and watch the scale. I know what foods/situations trigger my overeating. I also don't fret over a few lb gain since I know that the next day or two I can lose it easily.

    Hope this helps.

Hint: Listen to your mom. :yes

        Typical day:

        Breakfast
2 eggs and maybe bacon (most days)
        2 cups coffee with cream

        Lunch
Salad with grilled chicken and ranch dressing, or canned tuna with mayo.

        Dinner
Just about anything I want because of the breakfast/lunch combo.

Pizza (2 slices) or spaghetti (1 plate) or steak/chicken/burgers and some sort of vegetable. Bread sometimes - but whole wheat only. Not the low-carb stuff.

        Snack
apple, avocado, cheese stix (cheddar), grapes, pickles, klondike low-carb icecream bars

Rarely, if ever, do I eat chips of any kind, ice cream (real), anything with an Atkins sticker on it.

Like I said, I don't count carbs. I would guess its under 100 per day.

Your number of carbs - to maintain - is something we're asked to do in OWL and Pre-Maintenance phases by Dr. Atkins. I just skipped that part of the book! (not the phases... just the counting)

          ahh I get it now.

I will just have to test my body and see how it reacts to diffrent food till I have found my limit. ok I will test and see how that works out.

What about water intake since I am at my goal weight do I just need 2 drink 2 liters of it? ensive

Yep, you got it now. :nod

Oh yea... water. Yes, drink up! The more the better - although your desire will decrease when you are not in ketosis. I probably drink 70-80oz per day. If you are active drink more. That might be tough in school, though. Just choose water over diet drinks!

              David,

I had some time to think about my answers to you and I don't think I provided you with all the information you need to make this work for you.

I strongly urge you to get another copy of the DANDR book and read the chapters on OWL and pre-maintenance. These chapters explain how you should introduce new foods into your system when finding your CCLL. My advice above was using me as an example.. someone on a long term maintenance who has already reached the level of carbs to keep my system in balance. You haven't reached your level so before you go eating pizza and spaghetti to get to it.... please please read the book again and follow the OWL rungs!

Too many people think Atkins is Induction and then moderation. There are 4 phases for a reason. Don't ruin your chances by ending Atkins improperly!

                  Hi David,

Perry's given you great advice on the carb situation. I just want to pipe in and say you can go to your local library and get a copy of DANDR so you can read up on what he's telling you. Who knows? Maybe by the time you've read it all, yours will show up.

                  Joan J
