I would say for counting calories, you are in the right forum, or section.
Once you do Atkins for Life, calories are going to be more important to monitor, as you are wanting to maintain.
Large amounts of foods when you don't need them (hence, the rule about eating till satisfied, not stuffed) will still add the calories, and eventually the pounds.
You don't have to be absolutely weird about calories, but you should maintain somewhere between your BMR and your AMR rates.Started Atkins: 21 Sep 2003

I still don't count calories. I am aware of them and know what types of calories affect my body. I can't ever eat a bowl of ice cream or a regular soda pop (empty calories) but I can eat a plate of lasagne or 16 oz. steak and not gain weight. I maintain by the scale. If I jump 3-5 lbs then I go back to low carb or lower calories for a few days to balance myself out.
p.s. Jen, did you want this thread moved to another forum so you get additional input?

I have not kept track of my calories at all. I just know the foods I am eating are low carb healthy foods. I have always use the "eat til I am satisfied rule" I watch the portions of the foods that I eat. I have maintained since mid Oct. of 2003, as you can see that is almost a year at goal.

What are calories? :confused
The quality of your food is a lot more important than the quantity.
Eat a lot of crap, get crappy results.
