  • giving up sweeteners ...

Ok I promised myself this month I am going sweetener free...

I am tired of flirting with sugar...it is loose loose for me..or possibly gain gain ...and I hate the way I feel when I eat anything with white flour or sugar ..really I feel hung over..I gain a lot of water wt ...and Lord knows what else is going on but it makes me feel like crap!...even the odd piece of cake for a holiday or bday makes me miserable ..so why do it??? DUH!!!!

...I don't think the artificial sweeteners trigger me or anything but they do keep my taste for sweets at a active ...that is for sure ..and the next step is real sugar ...I did not eat any sweeteners for months during my loosing phase and when I didn't I did not really care if I had them or not...so maybe it will help me stop flirting with the sugar monster if I stop with the sweeteners all together...

I am eating all the fruits and veggies I want and can obtain the sweetness I need in most recipes by cooking down onions and red peppers ect, or using more fruits in baking .....

well ok so this is it ...day 1 of no more sweeteners for me ...

if I say this out loud ..on this board I feel obligated to follow through you know

So please hold me too it!!! or join me if you want ...no challenge just in informal attempt at giving up something that is not essential in my diet

    thanks for listening OOOXXX

      Hey Heidi girl!

I'm not joining you - I'm not that brave - but I totally know where you're coming from. I cut out all caffeine about a month ago and cut sweeteners WAY back. I haven't gotten rid of them completely because I really enjoy the occasional cup of decaf with cream and cream cheese with cocoa and splenda. (Not to mention flax cakes, which I know you hate! )

Good for you for taking the no-sweetener plunge! I think that's exactly the type of step that's needed to help get back into the Atkins groove - getting back to the totally strict way you approached it in the good old days. Otherwise it's easy to get lackadaisical, believe me, I know.

Good for you Heidi. Im also on the "good for you, noway for me" side I might need to do the same thing myself though. Im getting a taste for it which is bad bad bad.

I commend you for recognizing it and not just 'going with the flow' since you have been at goal and maintaining. It would be so easy to just go along with it. Good job babe!

Good for you Heidi! You've inspired me, not quite to join you in a month of no sweetners at all... but I will try a month of reduced amount of sweetners. Not having problems...just think that they're creeping up a bit.

I'm sure you'll make it through your month with ease Heidi... you've got the right mindset!

Lucky you Heidi, still having blacberries to pick! Ours got all frazzled end August. Got some in the freezer though. Very much second best compared to fresh, but if eaten just before getting completely thawed are quite good.

If you don't feel like doing it right now, then don't. Anyone can change their mind, and sometimes the time is just not quite right for all sorts of reasons. Besides... you're maintaining just fine so you don't have to feel pressured. Maybe at some future time you'll get the urge again!
I think I'll still try to keep with the 'reduction' thing though.
