    gretings from greece.... any suggestions??

    Helloev erybody!!

Ive been reading the posts now for about and hour, you have a very helpful forum, congratulations.

I did atkins 2 yrs ago and lost 25 kilo, just what i needed i was over 90k and my height 1.72. i got to weight 66-68 k. i have big bones, so i really feel good myself, even though they say you can never be too thin... i really dont like the anorexic look.

i live in a greek island and i think is hard enough to do atkins in greece, more in an island... greeks just love carbs in any size, shape, color.... i guess in athens i could have access to more atkins-friendly foods... but here i find it difficult and the result is that last winter 2003-2004 i gained 6-8 kg and loosed them with a little carb-control during late spring... and this winter the same.

i know part of that is my fault, all x-mass goodies and during winter we dont work and physical activity is non-existant.

now this winter i have those extra kilos on me again.

is this normal? is there a secret to prevent this to happen next winter?
i know is not healthy all these weight changes.

so if someone has a maintenance secret, i would love to hear about it.

thanks a lot and congratulations for all the goals you achieved !!

I've been maintaining a 38 pound weight loss for nearly 3 years. I don't understand the word 'Normal Food' when referring to nutritionless refined processed foods. What's normal about eating that?

I eat all food groups and never feel deprived. I eat all non-starchy vegetables, all fruits except bananas, I eat whole wheat Pepperidge Farm Carbstyle bread daily, I love meat as I always did.

I avoid sugar like the plague it is. Starch is sugar by a different name, so I avoid that too.

I exercise everyday, and run between 25-30 miles a week. I also do weight training.

I am nearly 50 years old and have never felt better in my life. There is nothing I miss when it comes to the foods I eat. Whole foods ARE normal foods ... twinkies are not!!

      Yes, it can be done!!
