  • What do you think?

I've been consistently below my BMR for a while (not a lot most days - but some).

For the past few days, it seems I'm hungry. I've eaten entirely legal items, but from a calorie point of view, probably 500 to 1000 more than most days.

Now, I don't know whether it's stress (if you've read my other post, you'll get an idea why), or if it's because I'm sort of catching up on the deficit, and needing extra calories.

I (thus far) don't seem to be gaining, but I'm wondering if there's any kind of theory whereby your body sort of rebels eventually if you don't feed it enough, and then you play "catch up".

I'm not well versed enough in the medical end of calorie burning and all the particulars, so I was wondering if anybody more knowledgeable had any thoughts in this regard.

Hon, you simply MUST eat at minimum your BMR in order to keep your body functioning with the calories it needs. If you go to www.countcarbs.com it will compute your BMR for you and also your active metabolic rate which factors in your exercise, etc. If you eat consistently less than your BMR, your body will cling to every pound for fear you are attempting to starve it ... trust me, that's how it works! You need to eat more than your BMR, but less than your AMR in order to successfully lose weight.

Well, according to your link, my BMR is 1353.24, with an additional 1078.5 (approximate values based on the numbers I put in for average physical activity).

That would make it 2431.74 calories per day.

So, I should be eating between 1353 and 2431 calories per day?

My average daily calorie consumption rarely reaches the lower number. Guess that's why the stomach pouch isn't moving. My body is hanging onto every calorie for dear life!

Guess I didn't understand the whole concept. Strange what you read and read, and still don't comprehend until all of a sudden the light turns on. I'm going to have to re-think my menus.

And in the "ideal weight" section, it still says I'm overweight by 21 pounds.

So true about starvation mode. :yes

:yes You know, I actually had a week where I ate more food and lost more weight than the week where I hardly ate.

Absolutely .. that IS the truth .. you can actually gain weight by not eating enough! How weird is that??
