Re: Take Me Out and Shoot Me! Did I Lose It Too Fast?

Just an update. Finished my two week induction. I was pretty strict with it. Only went over by a couple of carbs twice, but they were veggie carbs. Lost 19 pounds during induction. Did at least 1 hour of exercise every day except for today. Drank lots of water in the process, but probably still not enough. Headaches lasted three days and then I was fine. Had problems remembering to take my vitamins and missed it probably three or four days.

Today, I am starting on OWL, Rung 1 and making my way up the ladder again. Looks like based on my previous experience and the amount of weight loss during induction, that I should get back up to rung 9 again. Also looks like I will be able to take in a fair amount of carbs before I reach my CCLL. I think last time it was right at about 100.

Should hit target weight probably right at the beginning of summer. Then SPEEDO here I come!

Re: Take Me Out and Shoot Me! Did I Lose It Too Fast?

I'm new to the forum but also lost weight with Atkins and gained it back, and am embarrassed about it. I was not a forum member then though, I just did it on my own. Then due to some emotional problems and perhaps some meds I am taking, I gained most of it back. I hate seeing people that I have not seen in awhile, my big fat self now, and the look in their eyes when they see me fat. I hate it. And I have knee and foot pain. I'm too old to carry this weight. There are no old fat people.

      So I start again.

BTW you will be groovin' in that speedo!

Re: Take Me Out and Shoot Me! Did I Lose It Too Fast?

        Hi Don,

Welcome back. I want to say that even though you are starting this pathway again - it's a reminder and an inspiration to me. 9 years ago i lost over 100lbs doing weight watchers...but my cravings never stopped, my behavior was neurotic and even though I was at a great weight - I wasn't healthy. Fast forward through a little meltdown and three kids and I had gained it all back again. I started atkins June of 08 and I am in a great spot. I've lost over 100lbs a SECOND time.

You can do this! You story helps keep me on the straight and narrow, however, hopefully my pathway can give you the inspiration to stay the course and do it again.

I can tell you: Victory seems sweeter the second time!

        to you!

Thanks phlox and Erika, it is tough getting back into it, but now I am kind of in the groove. Last week a little rough because I was sick and didn't get in the exercise in and actually gained a couple of pounds. Coming back off now, and working my way up the rungs.

Well, it isn't coming off fast this time, that's for sure. Still lost a couple of pounds this past week in spite of it being Christmas week. This next week may also be a rough one. Moved on up to rung 7 this week. Never thought I would be wondering how I was going to eat THAT MANY CARBS! LOL It actually does take some brain power to figure out how to balance it and get it in!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas weekend. Happy New Year and Blessings to All in 2010!

Re: Take Me Out and Shoot Me! Did I Lose It Too Fast?

Hi, Don! I lost 100lbs and gained a little bit after my gallbladder surgery in Dec. of 2006, but lost it. Met goal in 2003 and never gained more than 7 lbs except for one year I was put on a beta blocker. Packed on an extra 20 *and it was the Holidays too!* That came off fast when I discontinued the medication. Maintenance was great and easy for me. When my Mom developed dementia in 2005 I still kept on keeping on. My maintenance weight was 127-133 or so. I porked up to 145 in 2007 and when my Mom passed away in Dec. of 2007, my crash began. Deep depression and since food is my drug of choice (I'm a former bulimic/anorexic) I started going off plan pretty much full time. Fast forward to Dec. '09. I'd gained up to nearly 170. I never thought I would be even THERE again. I went months and months and months without weighing, though I knew my clothes didn't fit. Things are looking way up now since I have seen how easy it is to re-gain weight and eat for comfort rather than for health. As it gets harder to lose weight as we get older, I had to "rededicate" myself to my health and the Atkins lifestyle. Sorry so long... and for venting... I wish you the best and you know many of us are where you are and may someday be where you are even if we think we'll never gain weight back. One day at a time. Congratulations to you!!

Okay, as one who just wants to get there, I'm looking at this from a different angle, and your pictures say it all. Congrats on your first time around and all the effort and work which must have gone toward that. What an inspiration. The coming back and in doing so helping others avoid pitfalls you may have encountered also speaks volumes. Thanks for sharing, and all the best!
