Hello,
I have reached my goal weight with Atkins and I m now in pre-maintenance.
For my honeymoon, my husband and I are traveling to Africa to climb Kilimanjaro (one of the 7 summits) and we are going with a tour guide. He and his staff will provide all meals, and i looked at what they are providing and it's all PASTA and Bread, and HIGH calories but with carbs. I tried purchasing a bunch of sugar free beef jerkey and nuts but my husband is upset that I am even thinking of not eating what they serve because they say i need it to survive.
My post has multiple of questions. First, when my body is burning close to 4000 a day and we are under extreme conditions, does Atkins still hold strong?
Second, what are the repecutions if I eat carbs during the climb and return back to my normal diet when I return home? We will also be on the safari a week after the climb and there is no guarantee that they will have meals that don't have carbs or sugar. I am not sure how available meat meals will be.
I am so nervous and don't want all my hard work to go to waste. Please provide any advice or knowledge about extreme excercise with Atkins if possible.
Thanks!
Eve
